Batman (1989)
Review by Glenn Burgess
The first, and one of the best Bat-films, this is a movie big on visual flare and dark images, and they complement the quiet, intense character of the dark knight. Jack Nicholson makes an excellent Joker, and he really is genuinely scary in the role. The melding of the comical and the extremely sinister gives a chilling effect, and the final showdown is excellent. The film is, sadly, difficult to see on a TV screen because of Burton's obession with darkness, but still well worth watching.
