Beast's Battle

And he bleeds without knowing
How his blood stains my skin
Yet his pain is only beginning
I wish I could take it from him
On a new journey, beginning once again
Wandering lost yet still always seeking
The one soul he has long searched for
Briefly glimpsed but always so fleeting

And his soul has been ripped in two
Burning me with the depth of his pain
Lost and bewildered he runs desperately
Seeking no shelter from the acid rain
He carries with him now,a son's lost cry
Being there for him as much as he can
Yet life moves on with or without us
Taking no heed of our carefully laid plans

And he cries in the depths of despair
Unaware of how much I truly hear
Walking arm in arm with his shadow
How I wish I could always be near
His strength will carry him safely forward
Into a new life which will be loving and true
That long lost soul will find and claim him
Together they will realise their dreams anew

And his beast paces inside him
I hear it's tormented footsteps
Reaching out to hold him safe
I sense his few regrets
For youth and beauty are still his
Life calls him to fight for true love
Steeling his heart for the next battle
I watch him stride forth armed with my kiss.
