Caged
Restless pacing, eyes hunting every shadow
Ears tuned to the scurrying of tiny feet
Desperate hunger for life's ruby warmth
Chinks of escaping light make success retreat
Still branded by her prision's steel bars
Arms up in a useless gesture of protection
Life patters achingly near too swiftly gone
Seeking mouth left in a grimace of starvation
Soft footfalls herald approaching freedom
Faint smell of ripe life tantalising her senses
Metal grates in precise deliberate movements
Warm flesh bared a test of her meagre defences
Crimson splashes stain the anaemic moonlight
Drowning her in a frenzied exstacy of bloodlust
Soul wrenching pain of it's sudden deliberate loss
Exhilaration of realising the depth of his trust
All consuming hunger overpowering mortal love
Torn flesh a parody of romantic counsummation
Death greedily reaps yet another betrayed soul
Saited and alone awaiting a saviour's visitation
