Such a Love

He asks me in silent wonder
As he smilingly shakes his head
How I can possibly adore him
And not love elsewhere instead
Do I not see his pain and strife
His weary battle with duty
I smile and show him his life
Reflected in our love's beauty

He gently brushes away my tears
Cursing himself for being a man
And as I kiss his salty palm
I show him all the love I can
For he has taught me how to love
Made joy the rhythm of my heart
His ready smile and loving touch
Has healingly made happiness start

He tells of the hurdles to face
Pleads with me to abandon him
How I laugh so gently in his ear
My love unafraid to sink or swim
So I gather every precious moment
Lay them before him like pearls
Showing the measure of this man I love
A colossus spanning our two worlds.
