Backblast Packs

These devices were an ingenious device devised by a power armor pilot in the Golden Age that was growing tired of seeing his buddies taken out by guerilla fighters, and commando strikes, so he sat down and developed an explosive flechette pack that effected a wide area instead of a direct line, thus was the beginings of the Backblast packs. Since their humble beginnings they have gone a long way, including several different models of the backblast packs, including the original flechette pack, a newer more advanced flechette pack, an awesome minilet pack, and a Pyrotechnics package, among several others. These weapons are lightweight, but the kick of such a device limits it's use to power armor, robot vehicles, and other vehicles.

Backblast Flechette Pack Mk1 "Steyer": This is in effect the same flechette pack as the first one devised, hence why it is named after him, Thomas Steyer. It holds twenty different tubes of flechettes, which upon activation, all fire at once in a 60 cone, to whichever direction the pack is faced. (Usually these packs are mounted upon the back of the Power Armor Unit, hence the nickname, Backblast.)
Backblast Flechette Pack Mk2: This device is similar to the Mk 1 in that it utilizes flechettes, to mow down targets in a set area. However this particular pack has been redesigned to cover a greater area than the Mk 1. Although this may sound great, but it's damage capacity is a bit less than the Mk 1, making it less useful against armored targets. It's increased blast cone of 120 is an excellent way to clear a path through violent, unarmored rioters though.
Backblast Flechette Pack Mk3: The third flechette pack in the series of four, also being the most powerful of the four, therefore the most common. It too has the 120, cone of attack but does as much damage as some heavy weapons!
Backblast Flechette Pack Mk4: The final flechette pack in the series is as powerful as the Mk 2, but altogether the most deadly due to it's 180 cone of attack. Although Desert Star does not use it often, many mercenary companies who organize terror raids against some faction or another that would not normally be armored, such as CS civilians or something to that effect.
Backblast Minilet Pack Mk1: This design was also concieved about four years after the first Backblast pack was created. There was desire for a Power Armor unit to be able to plant a powerful infantry deturant, thus the minilet pack was devised. These minilet packs contain fifty quarter sized clear disks, with a pressure detonation switch made of a dense clear plastic, that will only detonate if over twenty pounds come in contact with it. The pilot can determine how many he wishes to deploy, anywhere from 1-50, but once one is stepped upon all that have been deployed will detonate, creating a massive blast, capable of destroying even heavy Power Armor!!
Backblast Minilet Pack Mk2: Much like the Mk 1 this unit contains 50 minelets that can be dispersed in the same way as the Mk 1, however this type includes a timer device that will detonate all dispersed minilets at once to create incredible blasts, deadly to almost anything in existance!
Backblast Crowd Control Pack Mk1: This backblast pack was designed for use by police power armor units, against large riots. It has 20 tubes full of rubber pellets for use when the operator does not wish to inflict serious or permanent injury. It, like the Mk 3 Flechette pack has a 120 cone of attack.
Backblast Crowd Control Pack Mk2: Another of the law enforcement backblast packs, is this smoke pack, capable of delivering five minuites worth of colored smoke.
Backblast Crowd Control Pack Mk3: This unit is somewhat different from the other Crowd Control models in that it is intended to mark places or specific individules with paint pellets, similar to those used in paint ball. These paint pellets can be replaced with a flamable substance instead, with one or two of the pellets being filled with phosphorus to ignite it upon contact.
Backblast Crowd Control Pack Mk4: Phosphorous Pellets are this CCP's claim to fame, it is commonly used against large numbers of men in body armor, to take out as many at once as possible without killing all of them.
Backblast Pyrotechnic Pack: This device is made to either cause an incredible diversion, or to assist allies to find a lost troop. They are commonly equiped upon scout units of powered armor, in the desert region, a pyrotechnics pack can be seen for about twenty miles! It contains bright fireworks, loud firecrackers, whistlers, fountains, pinwheels, ect..
