  1. A Coalition scout team discovers the Spice. Learning of its powers of Clairvoyance, the CS Military wants to use it in their new campaign. They also see that it can be distributed throughout rival territories, especially Tolkeen and Lazlo, to build an addiction, which only the CS could fill.

 

  1. If the PC's are mercenaries, their employer may see the increased CS activity outside of its borders and wonder what's going on, sending the characters to investigate. There the characters meet up with the Fremen and eventually win their friendship. Now all they must do is destroy the ten or more mining facilities in the desert and eliminate the CS presence.
  2. If the PC's are Fremen they can just be bothered with the problem of exterminating the CS troops.

 

  1. Something is killing off the sandworms. It could be disease, poison, or even some EXTREMELY powerful game hunters. Regardless, this problem has severe religious and more practical consequences for the Fremen, like endangering the spice production.

  1. The cause is some kind of magic illness effecting the worms. A cure must be found in the next twenty-four hours or it will be irreversible. A legend says that a stranger not of the desert will come…
  2. A major god is vacationing in the desert and is on safari. He must be stopped or somehow appeased without turning his fury on the Fremen.
