After a few failed efforts, here is the first pedal I've bought via eBay.
It's possible my success was helped by the fact that no one else put in a bid for this EH-2.
My own interest was sparked by some reviews I read at Harmony Central, so I was glad when
this pedal popped up in my mailbox.
Somehow, the EH-2 slipped under my personal radar. I could find nothing about it while digging
through my (admittedly incomplete) collection of various BOSS catalogues, users magazines, and
promotional materials. So all I knew about this pedal was that it somehow enhances tone.
So I plugged it in, and twisted knobs.
What I did learn from various comments posted on-line was that the EH-2 works best
at the end of the pedal chain. So I put it at the receiving end of a CH-1 (Super Chorus) and DF-2
(Super Distortion Feedbacker). I chose those two simply because I hadn't used either one in ages.
The first thing I learned is that the knobs seem to work the opposite of most pedals.
Cranking them fully clock wise (my normal approach) did very little. Pulling them in the opposite direction
brought out some delightful high end from my Strat.
Warning: see the setting in the scan? I used that with my Reactor (Telecaster clone) and got the most INTENSE
Tele treble sound I've ever heard. Talk about an ice pick! If you're an Albert Collins fan, you'll know that this could be a GOOD thing!
A few days later, I was recording with my POD. While using my Strat, the EH-2 truly enhanced the lead tone I got using the Ibanez
Metal Charger. The thick, fully distorted tone was given a touch of "clarity".
I'm not sure what the bottom line is on the EH-2. So far, I really like what it adds to various distorted tones.
Is this something I could obtain with an EQ pedal? Let me get back to you on that.
