Sardaar Jassaa Singh Jee

 

Bhai Jassaa Singh jee learned keertan from his mother. Both of them performed keertan at Mataa Sundaree jee's residence in Delhi. In the picture above, Jassaa Singh jee, still a child, is singing Keertan sitting beside his mother who is playing the taanpura. Jassaa Singh jee grew under the training of Mataa Sundaree jee and later became the General of the Sikh Army. He was bestowed the title of Sultaan-e-Quam (Chief of the Sikh Nation) because of his gift of leadership and his political wisdom.
