Bhai Mardaanaa Jee

| Bhai Mardaanaa jee accompanied Guru Nanak Dev jee during His travels. He played the Rabaab when Guru jee performed keertan. Mardaanaa jee became enlightened and his baanee is written in Guru Granth Saheb ji under Salok Mardaanaa. Because, he got enlightenment through Guru Nanak Dev jee, he has not put his name at the end of the shabad, but rather used Guru Nanak Dev jee's name. The rabaab was used all through the Gurus' period to perform keertan. Today, it is hard to find the rabaab anywhere in India. |
