This site represents the Gothic Institute's Mummy Research Center, a laboratory dedicated to the scholarly investigation of one of the greatest monsters of all time. Of all the gothic horrors, the Living Mummy is among the most cinematic. Like the Vampire, Werewolf, and Frankenstein's Monster, the Mummy has inspired motion picture masterpieces and strings of sequels, including productions from the famed Universal and Hammer Studios. Unlike these other gothic creatures, however, the Mummy is not well known for his role in folklore or literature. Instead, our true love of the millennia old soul wrapped in bandages began in the flickering glow of motion pictures.
