COMMITTEES

  • Researched implications of impending, far-reaching legislation in the U.K. as Secretary of the Transport Working Party for Spar and Vivo groups of wholesale and retail grocers; research was often ahead of that being done by the vehicle manufacturers in this respect, which was much appreciated by them. Received written commendation from the Chairman when leaving the company.

  • Secretary of the Traffic Committee for the Rubber Association of Canada, gaining unexpected concessions from CN Rail at a meeting at their Montreal headquarters, delaying price increases to the industry which had been considered inevitable.

  • Secretary of the Statistics Committee of the Rubber Association of Canada, tracking demand for tire products in Canada, imports and exports. Produced the first Directory of Rubber Products in Canada with information gained from association members. Some members were uncooperative, but when the first edition was issued, they quickly changed their mind and contributed the missing information, so a second edition was then published.

  • Secretary of the Education Committee of the Rubber Association of Canada, distributing rubber samples and information to schools and educational groups.

  • Secretary of the Health and Safety Committees for the City of Edmonton.

  • Took part in many other committees involving church work, business and associations/societies.
