Borman joined NASA with the second class of astronauts - the "New Nine" - in 1962. His first mission was aboard Gemini VII as Commander along with his Pilot James Lovell. His most historic mission - Apollo VIII - was the first manned orbital flight of the Moon in December of 1968, again with Lovell and Bill Anders.
