Roger Chaffee

Roger Chaffee joined NASA with the Group Three astronauts in 1963. In a strange twist of fate, Chaffee was named to the Apollo I crew to replace Donn Eisele who was injured in a training accident. That assignment ended in tragedy when Chaffee, Gus Grissom & Ed White were killed during a flash fire in the capsule which occurred on January 27, 1965 during a plugs-out test on the Cape Canaveral launch pad.

The two signed photos below are of the type which were carried by Chaffee (and others) to be used while traveling so that they would have something to sign when asked for an autograph by those they met along the way.
Given that Chaffee died early in his career, combined with the limited circulation of his signature in general,
these pictures are exceptionally rare and valuable - ones which I am fortunate to have.
