The original Mercury astronauts were selected by NASA in April of 1959. The men who comprised this heroic group of space pioneers included: Scott Carpenter, Gordon Cooper, John Glenn, Gus Grissom, Wally Schirra, Alan Shepard & Deke Slayton. The autographs of these men are very collectible and a single item signed by all seven (such as the one below) is the most desirable piece an autograph collector could ever own.
