My page about university...

Hi. I'm Karen. I just finished my first year of univeristy at the University of Alberta. I'm in the faculty of science (general program for now). I am planning to enter the faculty of dentistry in Nov 1998, but there is a lot of work to do before then! If I don't get into dentistry I'll try honours genetics or honours microbiology. I am also interested in getting an education degree and becoming a teacher! Another possibility is becoming an optometrist, but this requires going to the University of Waterloo and that's pretty far away from here!

I ended up going to the U of A for several reasons:

its close to Red Deer, my home town

they have excellent medicine and dentistry programs

I knew quite a few people who were going there (this wasn't a major reason but it helped). HI to Rachael, Veena, Cheryl, Brandy, and Ken!

the university offered me a $15000.00 scholarhip (over four years)!! Who could resist? (I also received a $10000.00 scholarship to UBC and a $2000.00 scholarship to McGill)

Some neat things about the U of A:

a joke name for it is "the ewe of eh" and that's where the name for this page came from!

it has a really cool "maried" student residence off-campus and that's where I live.

one of the residences on campus is built around a mall! The appartments line the inside of the mall and also have a window to the outside.

many of my teachers in Red Deer went there so it must be a good place!

What do I do on my spare time?

spend time with Dan!

sing in the Church choir (sometimes)

go on the internet (duh!)

worry

read

What do I like the most about the U of A?

the scholarships!
