Thank
you in advance for letting me know how and why you are using
these essays!
- Sailor
Satan?: An essay that discusses the
presence of incantations, magical items, and non-rational
belief systems found within the anime Sailor Moon.
Thesis: The presence of magical/occult theory and other
non-rational belief systems within Sailor Moon are a
result of the author's genre of expression and are not
used to make a statement beyond that of the plot. I
handed in an appendix with the paper that included all
information copied off of personal web pages. I did this
mainly for my teacher's benefit to save him time if he
wanted to cross-reference the sources. I am not including
it here since it is about 2.5 megs (it includes lots of
pictures)! The cited websites are in the bibliography of
the paper, thus I don't see a need to offer this
appendix. Used in Religious Studies 274: Witchcraft and
the Occult, a course offered at the University of Alberta
and taught by Dr. W. Litke. Received a mark of 9/9.
- The
Way of Physics: New Science or Nonsense?:
Fritjof Capra's book The Tao of
Physics is very popular with the
"New Science" movement, but is Capra justified
in claiming that modern physics supports "eastern
mysticism"? This critical essay evaluates his
argument and examines some of the parallels between
physics and eastern mysticism that Capra claims support
his thesis. Used in Religious Studies 274: Witchcraft and
the Occult, a course offered at the University of
Alberta. taught by Dr. W. Litke. Received a mark of 9/9.
Possibly will be used in as a source in an upcoming book
by same professor!!
- Is
it an ought?: A philosophical essay
about the use/necessity of morality. Mostly containes
critique of the papers written by W. T. Stace and F. H.
Bradley about the "use" of morality. Used in
Philosophy 101: Ethics, a course offered at the
University of Alberta and taught by Professor Kermode.
Received a mark of 8.5/9.
- "Let
us not...": an essay critiquing
H. D. Thoureau's and J. J. Rousseau's beleifs about
government control and civil disobedience. Also contains
modern examples of civil disobedience (Ghandi, King).
Used in Philosophy 101: Ethics, a course offered at the
University of Alberta and taught by Professor Kermode.
Received a mark of 8/9.
