DESCRIPTION
Massive! Nothing will ever prepare you for
the first few seconds you step into the arena of the Bernabeu.
Four towering walls of football stadium, three quarters covered,
and most amazingly a section of terracing in the top half of the
uncovered side. If you sit near the top, beware vertigo!
HOW
TO GET THERE
British Airways or Iberian Airways fly to Madrid, though
it's quite expensive to get too. Once you get to Spain the
accomodation isn't too bad, and most things are reasonably
priced. From Madrid you can get to the Stadium via the Metro.
BEST
THING ABOUT...
The sheer scale of the stadium is in a different dimension
to British stadia. It's phenomenal.
BEST GAMES
TO GO TO
Any game!!! But mainly Barcelona or Atletico Madrid, but
you will find it almost impossible to get a ticket for these two.
PRICES
2500 pesetas for a cheap ticket (approx. 11 quid), though
you can pay 3000, 4000 or 5000 pesetas. Dont buy off a tout if
you can help it. Go to the stadium at least the day before a game
(usually a Sunday) and buy the ticket then, although it's a
nigthmare and you'll just have to take pot luck, but it all adds
to that extra special fun of the foreign holiday!
