Coach's Comments
2003 Titans

    5/13/03 - AL
Another one of those one point games, the difference is you gotta feel good about the win tonight.  The only part bad about it is that the game got called due to weather 10 minutes into the second half.  We mixed it up tonight up front and tried some new things.  We played well and the kids reacted to it very well.  We picked up the communication part a little bit and moved the ball well most of the time.  About 13 minutes into the game Josh Grosvenor sends the ball in and Pat Powers is there to finish and we are up with the first goal of the game.  At the 22 minute mark we get called for a foul in the box and are awarded a PK.  They take advantage of the opportunity and tie the game up at 1.   Eleven minutes later with 7 minutes left in the first half Jesse Smith does one of his flip throw in's and puts it squarely in the back of the net on the back side.  We take a 2-1 into the half.  We get about 10 minutes into the second half and the storms move in.  The ref's decide to wait 20 minutes to see what happens then make the call.  They decide to call the game and it goes in the book as a W for LC.  Not the way you want to win it but take it and go home.  Special mention tonight to the play of Justin Toole, some key saves at several crucial points in the game.  Defensively Seth Jackson, Dan Gulden, and Zach Paulson came to play again tonight.  Great job in the back, Seth is starting to get vocal and that is what we are looking for, take charge Seth.  We moved Josh Probst up to the top and moved Jesse Smith to the middle.  Overall that worked well, it looked like we had a little more attacking power and Jesse played very well in the middle.  John Harvey picked it up a notch tonight and had several good runs to the corners and was getting better at talking.  I gave them Wednesday off from practice and we will pick it up on Thursday to get ready for the weekend.  Our first game Saturday will be against at 8am against Riverside.  One game at a time, first game first.  After the Riverside game we will play St. Alberts at 10:30am.  The winner of the bracket will advance to the Championship game.  Our goal is to be in it but we must take care of business and focus on each game.

I challanged JV toinght to focus on the win and get the record to 3-3-2.  With a game tonight we have the opportunity to finish 4-3-2 next week against TJ.  That is big and with the win tonight we are one step closer to doing it.  JV started off by going up 3-0 before giving up 2 quick goals in the second half and trying to give it away.  JV goals came from Pablo Navarete, Bobby Durand, and John Kocourek.   Handed out one assist to Bewn Edwards.  JV played very well tonight and looked like they wanted to be out there.  Scott Versch all most had another shut out tonight but they were awarded a PK in the second half and that ended thatl.  Scott played very well, he has made tremendous strides in improving his game this year.  JV will play their next and final season game next week against TJ.  It will be a good and tough game, we will see who shows up to finish out the season.
