is the rookie of the year of course, who else would get it? Iverson recieved 44 out of a possible 115 votes for the rookie of the year award. Stefan Marbury finished second and Shareef Abduar-Raheem finished in third. Iverson was in the top 10 in scoring, minuits played, and steals. Iverson had the best season out of all of the rookies by averaging 23.5 points a game, 7.5 assists a game, 4.1 rebounds a game, 2.07 steals a game, and 40.1 minuits a game. Sure the SIXERS may not have done that well but adding Iverson to the team gave the SIXERS fans and players a different outlook to the game. Iverson had many memorable moments in his rookie season and besides winning the rookie of the year award I think the rookie game M.V.P. award ment just as much to him. Iverson dazzeled the crowd day in and day out with alleyoup dunks, spectatular passes, and that wickid crossover. Iverson got drafted 1st overall coming out of his second year of college. Iverson was questioned by many people, reporters, and even his coach John Tompson about him not being ready for the N.B.A. but Iverson stuck by his word and entered the draft and looked what happened. I say if your good enough why not go and get the cash. Next year Iverson and the SIXERS will have a much better season under the new head coach Larry Brown, the more experienced Iverson, and their second overall pick in the draft. iverson's 96/97 player profile stats
