PARTS OF A FLOWER

Flowers have different parts that they need to reproduce. These parts are the petals, the sepal, pistil, stamen , filament and pollen. There are also some parts that cannot be seen without ripping the flower open. These parts are the ovary, anther, stigma and style.

The sepal is the part that helps protect the flower while they are developing. Sepals are usually green. Sepals can be seen at the base of the flower. The pistil is the female part of the flower. The pistil has three parts. The parts are ovary, stigma and style. The ovary is the female reproductive part. The stigma is the part of the pistil that collects pollen. The style is a long slender stalk that supports the stigma.

The stamen is the male reproductive part of a flower. The stamen has two parts; the the anther and the filament. The anther is the part of the flower that produces pollen grains. The filament is the slender threadlike that holds the anther.
