The Town of Logan 1950

This is the way Logan looked when I was a little girl, in the 1940s. The view is from Buskirk Hill, just west of Logan General Hospital. In the right lower corner is Logan General Hospital. In the lower left corner, you can see part of what was at that time the "Old" Bridge (not to be confused with the newer Water Street Bridge, that was demolished in 1999.) Just at the end of the bridge is the "old" bus terminal (not to be confused with the bus terminal that was built at the end of the Water Street Bridge later). At the very end of the bridge, you can see the loading area at the back of the bus station, and a bus waiting to load (or unload) passengers. The bus station in this picture was at the corner of Main and Dingess Streets. To the far left (center) is what was at that time the Logan Jr. High School and Logan Central Grade School. In the back of the Jr. high building, you can see the "annex", a temporary classroom, that we (students) affectionately called the "dog house." The light colored building in the left forground is the Harris (now Honaker) Funeral home. You can see the court house in the center of town. We hope you have lots of fun, remembering "the good old days" and putting names to the other buildings in beautiful down town Logan!!!
