This
good-natured mare rides high among her fellows and practically always passes
muster with flying colors. She's a winner, the Leo/Horse. She knows
no obstacle too high nor does she fear adversity. This person wants
more than anything in life to get there, to surpass herself in all areas
of endeavor, and to do so in an atmosphere of good cheer. The Horse
born Leo is not a sulker. Her dauntless Leo side permits the normal
fear of failure that haunts every Horse subject alive to retreat almost
into oblivion.
Once
the Leo/Horse knows what she wants, she bridles herself to the phone,
makes appointments, goes to meet the bankers, saddles herself with the
regulation loans and starts painting the walls of her new shop or office.
Leo/Horse is a doer.
Of course, being of sunny disposition and a solid citizen is not quite
enough to ensure instant victory. nor can all the elbow grease in the
universe guarantee success. But Leo/Horse doesn't know that. Leo/Horse
thinks that if you do something, it automatically becomes viable.
This is where our heroes occasionally fall and break a limb or two. And
this is why the Leo/Horse is so frequently baffled and disappointed.
How
could those collaborators, with whom she made such a fair and just and
effective deal, try to trick her? Why did that shoplifter take from
her shop? She thought he was such a nice man, such a good
customer. The Leo/Horse shakes her head in confusion. "Why
would anybody want to do me in? I'm so nice. I work
hard. I'm not lazy. Poor little me."
Now,
in some people this variety of disappointment leads to depression and
even surrender. Not with the Leo/Horse. The Leo/Horse hates
setbacks, despises failure, deplores trickery (unless she's the magician,
that is). When confronted with any of these misfortunes, she responds
quite simply in kind. She gives back what she gets - in spades!
She never goes looking for trouble, but should it befall her, the
Leo/Horse is a tough and pitiless adversary. Scruples be damned.
For Leo/Horses wrong is wrong and right is very definitely might.
This person suffers from a prickly ego. She cannot accept criticism
gracefully and will resist vigorously any hint of judgment from others.
She is an analytical person, yet refrains from judging others. She
doesn't want anybody meddling in her business and never shrinks from saying
no.
Given to sounding off at a moment's notice, the Leo/Horse imagines herself
quite eloquent. At parties or family gatherings it is often the
Leo/Horse who feels a sudden obligation to address the company. Frankly,
these people tend to be bombastic and even somewhat preachy at times.
But
Leo/Horse is a charitable sort. Perhaps the act of giving to those
less fortunate is a kind of penance for feeling so good about herself.
She will often head committees for the eradication of some human
evil, campaign for the PTA's building fund bake sale or even give the
first hundred dollars toward the church mortgage-burning party. The
Leo/Horse enjoys being philanthropic - especially when it shows.
Their physical makeup is usually rather impressive. Leo/Horse men are
dashing and elegant, even foppish at times. And Leo/Horse women
practically live for grooming themselves. They are always pulled
together with just the right black silk scarf to go with those pretty
jade earrings. These people care vastly much about how they look.
They exercise and jog and try to eat the right foods.
Love

The
Horse is generally a passionate creature, full of dash and vigor. Leo
is no slouch in the ardor department either. The combination sign will be
both extra hot-blooded and superseductive. Trouble is, Horses can
be very unscrupulous in love. They cannot see the other person's viewpoint,
remember? Missing a date or forgetting to come home for a few days
at a time, going out into the woods alone and letting you sit home worried
sick that your Leo/Horse has been eaten by a bear - all of the above seem
perfectly natural to the Leo/Horse. "Yes, of course I love you.
I came home, didn't I?" This speech after three or four
days' absence is a common Leo/Horse response.
Leo/Horse either takes love in this rather cavalier fashion or the Leo/Horse
falls disastrously, madly, head over hooves in love and gives up everything
for the sake of passion. Nothing matters then but the love object
and the love object's whims. This is a foible of all Horse characters
but the Leo/Horse with her built-in vanity and self-satisfaction is even
more likely to fall victim to these extreme fevers of love. Either
way, if you love a Leo/Horse, put on your safety belt and dig in your heels.
You're in for quite a ride.

Aries/,
Gemini/, Libra/, Sagittarius/ and Capricorn/Tigers are your darlings. Ditto
for /Dogs born in these same signs. You will fall for Aries/ and Capricorn/Goats
in a jiffy, too. No dice with Taurus/, Scorpio/ or Aquarius/Rats and
/Monkeys. These last are unlucky for you and thwart your progress.

Home And Family

Horses
like to create beautiful and comfortable environments. They are
not drawn to opulence nor do they indulge in luxe for its own sake. The
Horse is always down-to-the-ground practical. For the Leo/Horse,
a house ought first off to function efficiently. The decor will be snappy
but conservative. Each detail will be seen to. The Horse born
Leo is not one to tolerate leaky faucets. Will the Leo/Horse repair
her own plumbing? Only in an emergency.
As
a parent this person will shine. She is not overtly authoritarian
but rather lovingly domineering. It just wouldn't do to behave badly.
The Leo/Horse believes in what is meet and right. She communicates
with kids and enjoys spending time with them, reading or playing games
together.
The
Leo/Horse child will want to be given lots of attention and will require
(although this child hardly ever asks for it) huge amounts of affectionate
cuddling. She will be sunny and a pleasure to have around the house.
Usually these children exhibit their talents early in life. They will
be excellent subjects for school programs and enjoy digging into large-scale
projects.

Profession

This
subject can (and will) do almost anything. There are aptitudes here
in large quantities that await the Leo/Horse's indomitable will and practicality,
her sense of application and her flashy ardor. She plays to win
and she often does. Give this person an office and a telephone and
before you can say jackrabbit, she'll have something going for herself.
This person is thoroughly unafraid of success.
As the Leo/Horse finds authority despicable and will not tolerate so much
as a sigh of criticism in her presence, you will usually find her in positions
of authority herself. She doesn't mind rules as long as she's the one
making them. Because she lacks in subtlety what she possesses in
brilliance, this subject can be her own worst enemy in business situations
or group work. The Leo/Horse is something of a blurter.
Leo/Horses
make excellent employees for people who don't feel like bossing very much.
Their self-image helps get them from step A to step B without running
to ask the supervisor whether they should color the page green or blue.
Leo/Horses are naturally grand. They present well. Give
them the jobs requiring poise and flair. They won't disappoint you.
Sales, public relations, advertising, receptionist, merchant.
Famous Leo/Horses: Percy Bysshe Shelley, Aldous Huxley, Ted
Hughes, John Huston.
