The New GALANT and LEGNUM series are powered by the revolutionary GDI engine, the ultimate high-efficiency power unit and the first of its kind in the world. The GDI engine realizes ultra-efficiency by injecting gasoline directly into the cylinders to enable ultra-lean combustion and thereby deliver high output and ultra-low fuel consumption. Compared with a port-injection engine of similar size, the GDI returns 35 percent better fuel consumption, generates 0 percent more power, while emitting 35% less CO2 and 95 percent less oxides of nitrogen. A new twin intercooler-turbocharger 2.5-liter V6 24-valve 6A13-type engine which generates maxima of 280 PS and 37.0 kg-m powers VR-4 models and delivers motive performance which realizes class-topping road performance.

Transmissions
All A/T models are available with Mitsubishi's INVECS-II with Sport Mode 4-speed smart automatic transmission which offers the driver the option of clutchless manual shifting. 2.5-liter V6-powered VR-4 trim level models us a 5-speed version of INVECS-II with Sport Mode.
Suspension
The New GALANT series use Mitsubishi's tried and tested 4-wheel multi-link design suspension. Detail improvements and tuning together with increases in body and suspension stiffness result in a taut, responsive ride that is characterized by sporty handling and road-hugging stability.
