Hi .. Its me, Mike here. Watch this space 'coz Im gonna feed you with the updates and modifications Im doing to my car as and when Im done with it.

June 98 - The car is now under construction ... AGAIN. Rick, Hector and I are trying to go through the suspension system, for better handling, and where in the process the tires were upgraded to Pirelli P700 Z 205-50-ZR 15's. But were going to go with a super soft compound tire for autocrossing. We got the motor dilled in, and now ... this thing ROCKS!!!!

A friend and I did a few 0-60 times, unofficial of course, but I did post a 4.8 sec time, with the outside temp. at 60 degrees and overcast. I keep a couple set of fuel jets handy, that we use for hot and cold weather. Right now, however, suspension system is really getting re-worked good, to try to get better track times...

I need to, because I raced at the San Francisco S.C.C.A Autocross, and pulled a 14th place finish. Mind you, only because I snapped my old links to my antiroll bar, and I didn't have a rear bar at this race. I made the mistake of my Tokicos to 5 in the rear to compensate for no rear bar. BAD IDEA..., I soon found out, because I could not get the car to turn worth a darn. You get 4 runs on these courses, depending on the turnout for the race. On the last run of the day, I was moving, and im mean it, really moving. This is where I told Mark Wong, (whose website is at the Links Page) that I was going balls out, which I did ...

Until I hit a corner, that is, at too high of speed, taking out like about 10 cones down the sides of my car. Well .... so much for that race, but at least there was a lot of competition in my class And also the reason why I will be running a new bar and CORRECT settings at the next race coming up, with a new set of slicks.

I was a little disapointed, because I had so much more power then any other car in my class, by quite a margin. I was running a lot faster than the BMW M3's on the straights, but as soon as I hit the corner, the rear end was moving so much it was hard to control. That's where i lost most of my time ...
Apart from that, the engines felt great, the brakes were excellent, but the rest of the car was not up to speed.
Hopefully, by year's end, I should have the car I want.

Pictures of the Autocross event coming soon
