    Car Facts

    Model

1993 BMW E36 325I Coupé (2 door), ABS, 5-Gear manual Transmission, Catalytic Converter

    Color

    Granit Silber metallic

    Specials

A/C, ASC+T, Cruise Control, Electric Sunroof, M-Technik Sports Suspension,

    Sports Seats, Foldable Back Seats,

    Engine:

    BMW Code Name: M50TU.

One of the strongest 2.5 liter normal aspirated engines.

There are only a few other cars that beat the 325i in performance:

    Porsche Boxster (204 hp)

Mercedes-Benz 190E-2.5-16V Evo II (235hp) fortunately there are only a few built :-)

    BMW M3 E30 Evo III (240 hp)...very rare also

This engine has not too much torque at low rpm range, but aggessive power at >4000 rpm and this is why driving a 325i is a lot of fun!

The US version of the E36 M3 with 3.0 liter and 240 hp based on the M50TU. So if you can get a bored and stroked M50TU with 3.0 liter (AC Schnitzer, Hartge etc.) your car should perform pretty near to a US E36 M3 3.0!

BMW replaced this engine by the 2.8 liter M52, which has more torque, but only 1 hp more. They also came up with another 2.5 liter engine used in the 323/523, which produces 170 hp

Tech data: (all values for stock condition car, euro spec)

2.5 liter, 6-Cylinder Inline, 24 Valve, DOHC w/ VaNoS (variable Cam Timing),

    141 kW or 192 hp @ 5900 rpm, torque 245 Nm @ 4200 rpm, Compression Rate 10.5:1

    0-100 km/h 7.8 sec (0-62 mph), Vmax 233 km/h (145 mph),

Fuel Consumption: 9.5 liter 95 Octane Unleaded per 100 km, this is very little for a car with that performance. The Porsche Boxster easily consumes 12-13 liter, while you can drive on the German Autobahn with your 325i doing over 170 km/h and consuming under 10l/100km! BMW engineers know how to build good engines.
