As you may have noticed from my name, I don't have much Swedish ancestry (though my father's mother's name was Anderson, so I need to do some research there).

However, my wife Karen was born a Gustafson. Both her father's parents were Swedish (her father's father was born in Trollhätten, just north of Göteborg; and her father's mother was born in the Boston area within a year of the family moving from the East Coast of Sweden).

We have visited relatives around Göteborg and would love to do so again soon.

Which is why I have studied Swedish and try to keep up with Sweden and Swedish-American activities.

An excellent resource in the Washington, DC area (Maryland, Northern Virginia, and DC) is the Svenska Skolan, run by Margareta Storm (703-938-3549). Unfortunately, I stopped my classes after five years as the family grew to three children. I hope to enroll my children in a few years and return to studying Swedish again.

The following links are just a smattering of the thousands available, but they have good pointers to other information.

Swedish Links A good mailing list for Swedish discussions is SWEDE-L. Two of the links on here are from that list and maintained by Patric Lundberg.
