Tips & Tricks

Chocolate Microwaving- When microwaving chocolate, always use 1 minute intervals and stir well. This is one time when looks can really be deceiving and you CAN burn the chocolate!
Hard Boiled Eggs- For ease of peeling, wait until water boils to add room temperature eggs. Older eggs are easier to peel that fresh eggs. (By fresh eggs I am referring to eggs that have been laid within the past week.)
Low Fat - To bake low fat, substitute applesauce for butter or margarine.
Pastry Hint - When making fruit pies, put the lower crust in the oven 5 minutes and bake while you are rolling out the top crust. Then put the filling in on the top crust. The under crust will not be soggy.
Pastry Hint - When cutting pastries of any kind, bring out the pizza cutter. It works wonderfully without pulling the dough.
