  • just a sample - click to view this pageDave's personal favourites
Some photographs that do not fit into any particular category. Some unusual and interesting photographs. The picture of men photographing topless models on a sports-car at a photo exhibition is even suitable for children!

  • just a sample - click to view this pageSissinghurst Castle Garden
Sissinghurst is my favourite garden in England. Its charm, beauty & tranquility set it apart from anywhere else. It is owned by the National Trust and so popular, tickets need to be timed to avoid overcrowding. It was owned (and created) by the poet & novelist Vita Sackville-West and her husband Harold Nicholson, the historian, diarist & diplomat. The sissinghurst part of the site is quite extensive and can be navigated from a map of the garden. Many new digital images added May 2000.

  • just a sample - click to view this pageThe Kent & East Sussex Steam Railway
I hope you enjoy these photos of the preserved steam railway operating out of Tenterden in Kent. The railway has a fantastic atmosphere which I hope I have managed to capture in some of these photographs. There is an audio file to download with the sound of the engine struggling up the incline. Updated 2000November

  • just a sample - click to view this pageWakehurst Place, Sussex
Wakehurst gardens are administered by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The gardens are extensive with several lakes and stunning views. The gardens are the home to the 'millenium seed colection' - or will be once it's built. Major update December 1999

  • just a sample - click to view this pageClouds - weather forecasting guide
Photos of clouds, rainbows etc. I am a keen amateur meteorologist and a fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society. Web definition does not do full justice to the fine detail in some of these shots. Updated November 1999

  • just a sample - click to view this pageGroombridge Place, Kent
Beautiful gardens claimed to be 'the most romantic in the kingdom'. A bold claim but they are certainly worth a visit. They were used as a setting in Peter Greenway's film 'The Draughtman's Contract'. Major update November 2000

  • just a sample - click to view this pageFinchcock's museum of music, Goudhurst, Kent
Finchcocks is a fine early Georgina house. The owner's have a magnificent collection of early piano's. The owner Richard Burnett performs delightful demonstrations of the piano's on open days. He ought to be on television - the demonstrations are full of wit & humour, as well as being informative. The photographs on this page are, however of the gardens which are set in the heart of Kent; A county described as the 'Garden of England'

  • just a sample - click to view this pageKent - The Garden of England - Hops & Oast Houses
The majority of hops, used for beermaking in England, are grown in the Kent hopfields. Hops were traditionally dried in 'Oast Houses' - distinctive structures making the landscape unique. Many are now disused but their beauty has been retained and many are now private homes. Updated November 2000

  • just a sample - click to view this pageIsle of Wight
The exciting and dramatic 'underclif' was formed by a series of landslides. The area is characterized by an extremely temperate climate which leads to unusual and exotic flora and fauna. Add the dramatic cliffs and seascapes and you have a photographer's paradise. This page is from my Isle of Wight Nostalgia site.
