Roy Knepp

Roy A. Knepp is from a small town in rural Pennsylvania.  He joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America initially in Worms, Germany during 1985; and due to inactivity he let his membership expire after the first year.   He rejoined the VFW at baumholder Post 2566 on 2 June 1998 and since August has acted as the Post Officer of the Day.

He served in the United States Army from 8 August 1966 to 30 June 1987, and retired in Europe.  He received Basic training and AIT as a Manual Central Office Repairman at Fort Gordon, Georgia.  His CONUS assignments iclude Fort Richie, Maryland (where he was stationed three times over the course of 13 years), his overseas assignments include the Republic of Korea, Germany (2 tours), Japan, and Italy.

His military education includes Dial Central Office Repairman, Special AUTOVON Leveler, 490L Overseas AUTOVON Switching Systems Repairman, Rapid Access Maintenance Monitor (RAMM) Reapir Course, KN101 DSN Switching, PLDC, BNCOC.

His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2OLC), the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Expiditionary Medal, Good Conduct Medal (1 silver knot), National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NCO Development Ribbon, and the Sharpshooters Badge with Rifle tab.
