SASOT News

10-Nov-2004: Our Marui MP5SD6 is listed on our For Sale page. We are still in the process of moving to a new home over at plastic-bb.com. More photos will be available on the new site, and you'll be able to find the results of some informal ballistics tests performed by INFRARED. If you've e-mailed us ever in the past year or so and haven't heard back, we're slowly working through our back-log of messages.

4-Mar-2004: The Marui M4 has been sold; the Marui MP5SD6 is available. There is a new review up of plastic training ammunition. Also, SASOT is in the process of moving to a new home over at plastic-bb.com. Right now we've only got a front page up as a placeholder, but we're working on re-tooling the site before it all gets uploaded.

10-Aug-2003: After some time away for training and a busy summer, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. The Marui M4 RIS is still available, and we just got a Ho-Feng Glock 17 heavyweight springer with SOCOM-style fake suppressor. Testing should be complete in a week or so, with a review to be posted shortly thereafter.

11-Apr-2003: All the real steel has been sold - thanks to all those who expressed interest. Currently all we have for sale is the Marui M4 RIS that we just reviewed. It'll probably go up on eBay within a week.

26-Mar-2003: I'm trying to update the links page, and I've lost most of my notes. If you'd like to submit a link, please e-mail us.

24-Mar-2003: The review of Tokyo Marui's M4 RIS is finally up. I've also corrected the link to the US State Department's Diplomatic Security Service.

5-Mar-2003: There's a small addition to the M4 RAM review on the paintball page. There will be more to follow from our recent testing, but the M4 is currently up for grabs on eBay. It's a fun marker, but we've got bills to pay this month.

25-Feb-2003: The review of the Marushin Colt .25 Secret Agent model is up on the reviews page, and I've added a real-steel L1A1 to the "for sale" page.

12-Jan-2003: The review of the HFC (Ho-Feng) Glock 17 training gun is up on the reviews page.

9-Jan-2003: We've picked up an HFC Glock 17 airsoft from bestpricebusters.com. A review will be forthcoming.

19-Dec-2002: David Dollarhide of Combat Enterprises has sent word of another airsoft event, this time in Agua Dulce, CA on January 18th. For more information, check out the Kandahar Karnage page.

30-Nov-2002: Links are up for WGC and UN Company. My real steel Remington 870 shotgun has been listed on the For Sale page along with the Sig P226. A link to Cops 911 is up - check out their custom holsters for mini airsofts!

23-Nov-2002: I've started working on the links page; X-Ring's current address is up as are links to Ilendil's airsoft page, NW Tactical, and Cleaner's sniping page.

21-Nov-2002: There have been some minor updates to the site; the most noticeable one is the slight expansion of the glossary. I'm trying an enforced amount of time each week to work on the site for the time being; hopefully I can get some real work done with updates and reviews. Our as-yet-unnamed new member and tactical guru has borrowed major pieces of hardware from the armory for casual evaluation this coming weekend. With any luck I'll be able to pick his brain a bit after it's all over.

7-Nov-2002: For what it's worth, I've got a real steel Sig P226 on the For Sale page. Combat Enterprises is holding what looks to be an amazing tournament event in Fort Ord, California on 22-24 November 2002. Operation Lockdown is apparently going to be held in the Fort Ord military prison. Talk about a cool venue. Contact David Dollarhide for more information.

19-Oct-2002: The review of the JTN Fang electric Micro Uzi is up.

17-Oct-2002: I'm working on an initial review of the M4 RAM; the For Sale page has been changed to reflect that we currently have nothing for sale.

21-Sep-2002: Got an M4 Real Action Marker for testing purposes. It looks like an interesting idea; see our paintball page (on the reviews page) for updates as they come in.

31-Aug-2002: Just received information on a very interesting airsoft/paintball hybrid system called the Real Action Marker, made by Asia Paintball Supply. If anybody has one of these, we'd like to hear from you. We're currently in the process of getting one for testing purposes.

22-Jun-2002: Completed testing of three brands of airsoft paintball; results are available via the link on the reviews page.

15-Jun-2002: Added a brief review of the Streamlight M3 to the tactical lights page.

27-May-2002: Finished the tactical slings page (including photos), which is available off the reviews page.

15-May-2002: Uploaded the tactical sling page, but it's not available for viewing yet. I'm on the road at the moment and I don't have access to photo editing software, so I haven't been able to add photos.

11-May-2002: Sold the Hapdong Derringer and the UHC 92f; they've been removed from the For Sale page. Finally got around to removing the "NEW!" text announcing the news page. Stand by for a tactical sling page and the Marushin Colt .25 Secret Agent review. In other news, the GunFX CAR68 featured on the paintball page has been sold. I'm now saving my pennies for an Extreme Paintball MP5SD.

13-Apr-2002: Very minor corrections have been made to the Marui USP and Automag III reviews.

6-Apr-2002: The Marui Glock 26 review is up. Minor updates have been added to the spring P220 page and the Tanaka P226 page. The MP5 magazine clamp page has been updated with a photo and a brand change - I thought it was made by Marui but it was in fact an Academy product. The SPAS-12 review is finally up, and that airsoft is also listed on our For Sale page. Likewise for the derringer.

4-Apr-2002: BOHICA has "adopted" the team's Omega Beretta 93R GBB, so it's no longer for sale.

31-Mar-2002: I've added three reviews: Marui's double magazine clamp, Marui's 240-round MP5 magazine, and Micro-Tec's MP5K upgrade barrel (finally). Testing and photography of the WGC Marui Glock 26 upgrade parts is complete; a review should be up shortly (along with a review of the G26 itself). An Old World belt slide holster has been added to the concealment holsters page.

29-Mar-2002: After seeing Hong Kong's Wargamer's Club (WGC) recommended to us, and finding that they have tons of really, really cool airsoft gear and accessories at good prices, I ordered a threaded outer barrel, fake suppressor, and Titanium inner barrel for my Marui Glock 26. They take Paypal, and they ship very quickly. The cosmetic parts fit fairly well and they look great; I haven't installed the inner barrel yet. Stay tuned for a review. And please check out WGC.

15-Mar-2002: Another minor update to the For Sale page - the clear Beretta 92f has sold. There's a new picture on the Photos page - it's of INFRARED with the Marui M4 RIS. Nothing fancy, just a tactical gear portrait. We're working on some more reviews of the Marui MP5K so we can compare before and after results when using the MicroTec barrel. The guestbook is back up, as is the front page counter. We've probably had a lot of hits since the counter went down at the end of 2000, but 49,000 is the last number I remember from before that. My apologies to anyone who tried (unsuccessfully) to sign the guestbook last year.

15-Feb-2002: Wow - has it really been that long since an update? I'm in the process of adding reviews and cleaning out dead links. The Marui Glock 26 review is done and ready to be uploaded. The for sale page has been slightly updated. We have a new member who is an active member of the tactical community, but his SASOT identity has yet to be constructed. Stay tuned.

3-Dec-2000: The review of the Marui MP5K is complete and ready to read from the reviews page. Also, the Dong San Colt .25 springer review is up.

2-Dec-2000: Thanks to Tokyo Model Company, our search for an MP5K is over. We've got one in hand and we are conducting stock reviews before we install the Micro-Tec barrel. The review of the unknown Korean Colt .25 springer with silencer is complete and awaits encoding and uploading.

14-Nov-2000: I wrote up the review of the Maruzen Walther P38 and included pictures. Stay tuned for more reviews soon to come, as well as two more tactical issues from Muz-L-Flash.

22-Sep-2000: I finally got the review of the generic Uzi finished and uploaded. The airsoft is also listed in the for sale section now. I also had a chance to compare a real Glock 26 with our airsoft, and I'll be writing the comparison up and adding it to the Glock 26 page.

28-Jul-2000: I finished updating the entire site - I've lightened the rivets background so hopefully the text will be easier to read. Also, I've tried to go through and eliminate any broken links and missing graphics, as well as spelling errors. Additionally, I put in image size tags on all pages containing images, so they should load smoother now. In other news, we're still in need of a Marui MP5K for testing the Micro-tec barrel we received. You can read more on our situation on the reviews page. And after this latest set of reviews gets posted, be sure to check our "for sale" page for new items.

21-Jul-2000: The SASOT page was just awarded the Pentagon Site Inspection Award for quality. Stay tuned, as we're getting the site tuned up for further Geocities awards.

18-Jul-2000: We just got a Marushin Colt .25 Secret Agent model and a spring-powered Uzi. We're still working on getting all the reviews typed up. As always, if anyone knows where we can get a Marushin Secret Agent Detonics .45 and Mauser HSc, let us know.

16-Jun-2000: We finally got our order from airsoftkorea.com (actually it came pretty quickly). The SPAS-12 is a little disappointing but the dual mag clamp, derringer, and Colt .25 pocket model are decent. Stay tuned for reviews. Please bear with me as I try to catch up on the huge backlog of unanswered email.

26-May-2000: I completed and posted the accuracy review of the Steyr TMP including tests to 25 yards.

16-May-2000: I'm finally done with "spring training" and I got a chance to upload the tactical sling use images that Muz-L-Flash sent along with his last Q&A. My apologies to all for the delay.

09-Apr-2000: I've finished the accuracy updates for the gas guns mentioned earlier and am still trying to find a time to conduct further tests. I also updated the Glock 26 page to reflect information that has been coming in about Korean airsoft manufacturing regulations.

26-Mar-2000: There are now three Q&As on Muz-L-Flash's page - thanks to those who have written in, and keep the questions coming!

13-Mar-2000: I finally had a chance to do some official long-range (25 yard) testing of the following guns: KSC Mk23 SOCOM, KWC Sig P226, Tanaka Sig P226, Omega Beretta 93R, and the four Marushin Secret Agent guns we've got. Keep an eye out for updates to the accuracy portions of the reviews of those guns. Soon I'll be heading back out for a test of the KSC Steyr TMP and the Marui MP5SD6 (hopefully I'll have results out to 50 yards).

22-Feb-2000: We've welcomed Muz-L-Flash to the fold with the opening of his Tactical Q&A page on our site - to check it out click here.

19-Feb-2000: I've uploaded a few more images to the photo gallery.

18-Feb-2000: I've decided to scrap the "scrap book" idea for the time being since it's been difficult to get permission to use the photos I've found so far.

08-Feb-2000: We're still looking for someone who's willing to loan us a Marui MP5K AEG so we can review the barrel that Micro-Tec sent us. None of has a K, but that's what Micro-Tec's standard promotional package is, I guess. For more details, please see the Reviews Page.

07-Feb-2000: I'm starting up a "scrap book" page of photos gathered from outside sources of real special and tactical ops units in action. Once I get enough photos together, I'll put the page up.

04-Feb-2000: Posted the reviews of the Marushin Secret Agent Colt 1911A1, Walther P88, and Walther PPK.

02-Feb-2000: The set of three Marushin Secret Agent series guns came in today from Extreme Power Airsoft in Hawaii, and testing should take place tonight with any luck.

28-Jan-2000: I was the high bidder for some airsoft paintballs - it should be interesting to see how they stack up against the older ones I used to have.

23-Jan-2000: Just uploaded the page and graphics for the guide to reassembly of mini airsofts which is accessible from the reviews page.

18-Jan-2000: I was the high bidder on the Marushin Walther P88 Secret Agent model on eBay, after a heck of a last-minute bidding war. So now the P88 is coming along with a Marushin Secret Agent 1911 and the PPK from the same series. Reviews to follow.

17-Jan-2000: I'm going through our links page and checking everything to make sure it still works fine. Also, I added some info to the paintball comparison page, courtesy of Spyderman.

05-Jan-2000: Posted the review of the KSC Steyr TMP, but we're still trying to fine-tune the Hop-up system on it so we can get a final accuracy evaluation up.

03-Jan-2000: Posted reviews of the KWC and Tanaka Sig P226 gas blowbacks.

01-Jan-2000: News page started, finally.
