Of the poems I have written, I have my favorites.

In the early morning hours

In the early morning hours
a drop of rain falls on the window pane --
while I breakfast with you.

In the early morning hours
a ray of candle light
shines within my sight --
while I breakfast with you.

In the early morning hours
the raindrops trickle
as my toast I nibble --
while I breakfast with you.

In the early morning hours
I look across the table --
Thankful I can breakfast with you.

My Horse and My Twin

Why would my horse
Want to spend an afternoon
Riding around in the semis trailer
With my Gemini twin?

He is supposed to
Look after me, not her!
But then, maybe he is
Looking after me.

Wages of War

He had telephoned her.
It was time for her to meet the train.
He had not wanted her to go;
He had sent no money.

She asked a passerby for help.
"He wants me to come, but
He has one more thing to do.
Can you loan me the fare?"

Their child clung to her breast.
"Lock him in the garage, and
He wont cry anymore."
Said the passerby.

"No,
Ill hold him, and
He wont cry anymore."
She told the passerby.

II

"Youve got a window!"
The radar intercept officer called.
He stepped out onto his wing and saw
She was doubled over on the ground.

She was crying uncontrollably before
The locked door of the garage
That kept their child
Forever from him.

She was writing a song.

He wanted to see the song
Before it was sung.

I came all this way on my bike
with this child of yours on my back
to hear your song.

She clasped the paper to her breast
That held her unwritten song.
