Camarin Grae has written a series of books for Naiad (don't groan - these aren't typical Naiad fare) that take place in the modern world and are (more or less) integrated. It's not a standard series, where one has to read all the previous books in order to follow later ones. It's more that characters and places from previous books make appearances in later books. Her writing style is varied, ranging from fantasy to mystery to an intense psychological thriller, always with a thoughtful feminist stance. Above all, her writing draws you in and keeps you involved. Some of her works are (in roughly chronological order):
