For Alpha Delta Kappa
Though I attend Sorority meetings and make the finest plans and have not
there will be no growth or
though I pay my dues, participate in a Scholarship Program, and complete
Projects, but have no awareness
mission focus, it is not enough.
if I spend many hours in "being involved" and become tense and nervous with
but have no love or
understanding of community and global concerns, it is still not enough.
Alpha Delta Kappa Sister is patient and kind;
is not shocked when someone
brings her their confidences, does not gossip;
is not easily discouraged; does
not behave in ways that are unworthy,
but tries at all times to be a
living example of the good way of life which He gives.
Love never fails . . .
Meetings will be attended, and then forgotten.
Silent Auctions will come and
Rummage Sales will be
organized, and then completed.
We know only a little. And we
can pass on only a little.
But when we have love,
Then our efforts can become
creative; and our influence will make a difference for
someone . . . somewhere . . .
now abide these three:
the greatest of these is love.

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and
visiting with her Mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about
the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother
clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober
glance upon her daughter. "Don't forget your Sisters," she advised, swirling
the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. "They'll be more important as you
get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you
love the children you may have, you are still going to need Sisters.
Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them. "Remember
that 'Sisters' means ALL the women... your girlfriends, your daughters, and
all your other women relatives too. "You'll need other women - Women always
'What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought. 'Haven't I just
gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married
woman, for goodness sake! A grown-up! Surely my husband and the family we
may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!'
But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made
more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another,
she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was
talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries
upon a woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life.
After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned:
THIS SAYS IT ALL:
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what they're supposed to do.
Colleagues forget favors.
Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between
A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach.
When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by
yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you
on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and
waiting with open arms at the valley's end.
Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you.
Or come in and carry you out.
Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters,
sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, Auntie's, nieces, cousins, and
extended family, all bless our life!
The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I.
When we began this adventure called womanhood; we had no idea of the
incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead.
Nor did we know how much we would need each other.
Every day, we need each other still.
Alphabet of Happiness...
Accept others for who they are and for the choices they've made even if
you have difficulty understanding their beliefs, motives, or actions.
Break away from everything that stands in the way of what you hope to
accomplish with your life.
Create a family of friends whom you can share your hopes, dreams, sorrows,
and happiness with.
Decide that you'll be successful and happy come what may, and good things
will find you. The roadblocks are only minor obstacles along the way.
Explore and experiment. The world has much to offer, and you have much to
give. And every time you try something new, you'll learn more about
Forgive and forget. Grudges only weigh you down and inspire unhappiness
and grief. Soar above it, and remember that everyone makes mistakes.
Leave the childhood monsters behind. They can no longer hurt you or stand
in your way.
Hope for the best and never forget that anything is possible as long as
you remain dedicated to the task.
Ignore the negative voice inside your head. Focus instead on your goals
and remember your accomplishments. Your past success is only a small
inkling of what the future holds.
Journey to new worlds, new possibilities, by remaining open-minded. Try to
learn something new every day, and you'll grow.
Know that no matter how bad things seem, they'll always get better. The
warmth of spring always follows the harshest winter.
Let love fill your heart instead of hate. When hate is in your heart,
there's room for nothing else, but when love is in your heart, there's
room for endless happiness.
Manage your time and your expenses wisely, and you'll suffer less stress
and worry. Then you'll be able to focus on the important things in life.
Never ignore the poor, infirm, helpless, weak, or suffering. Offer your
assistance when possible, and always your kindness and understanding.
Open your eyes and take in all the beauty around you. Even during the
worst of times, there's still much to be thankful for.
Never forget to have fun along the way. Success means nothing without
Ask many questions, because you're here to learn.
Refuse to let worry and stress rule your life, and remember that things
always have a way of working out in the end.
Share your talent, skills, knowledge, and time with others. Everything
that you invest in others will return to you many times over.
Even when your dreams seem impossible to reach, try anyway. You'll be
amazed by what you can accomplish.
Use your gifts to your best ability. Talent that's wasted has no value.
Talent that's used will bring unexpected rewards.
Value the friends and family members who've supported and encouraged you,
and be there for them as well.
Work hard every day to be the best person you can be, but never feel
guilty if you fall short of your goals. Every sunrise offers a second
Look deep inside the hearts of those around you and you'll see the
goodness and beauty within.
Yield to commitment. If you stay on track and remain dedicated, you'll
find success at the end of the road.
Zoom to a happy place when bad memories or sorrow rears its ugly head. Let
nothing interfere with your goals. Instead, focus on your abilities, your
dreams, and a brighter tomorrow.
