SHOPS ON DS101's MALL ===================== [Note: The references can be found in the archives at Yahoo Groups: www.yahoogroups.com/messages/ds101/x for the RPG messages and www.yahoogroups.com/messages/ds101-nrpg/x for the NRPGs. Subsitute x for the number of the post given in the reference.] Juun Carpentry -------------- The owner is a Juun man, around 50 years old, very convinced of the quality of his wares. The shop sells Juun carpentry, mainly tables and chairs but also painting frames. All of the items are crafted by hand, or at least that's what the owner claims. They also do rebuildings of quarters, with a specialty in second floors and lofts. Although not a large shop, few wares are actually in it, so there is quite a lot of room to walk around. (Additional items are on sale through a catalogue.) Refs: RPG 1175, 2987 Cosmic Treasures ---------------- The owner is Q, who was banished from the Continuum a few years ago. He is 1.80m tall (5'11"), with blue eyes and blond hair. His apparent age is 29. His manners remain very Q-like. He sells archaeological items from all over the galaxy and as many of them are on display in the small shop, leaving the customers little room to look around. Refs: RPG 1186, 2987 Cocoon Antiquities (located next to Bond's Iced Java) ------------------ Owned by a respectable Ferengi businessman named Moreg, the store combines the sale of various antiques from all over the Cocoon ranging from cheep trinkets to (nearly) priceless antiquities from ancient civilizations, with a museum that shows off an alternating variety of visually and auditory stimulating goods like statues and chimes. The museum, which is in the back of the store, charges a small fee for its visitors. Also, an occasional auction is conducted when a series of new, hot items comes into Moreg's possession. REF: RPG post by Doug, 9/21/05 The Chapel ---------- A Human Chapel devoted to the Christian religion. A small cross hangs above the arched front doors. A wooden panel left of the doors lists the times of services and a computer panel on the right is used for other announcements. Refs: RPG 2990 Pamper You ---------- A full-fledged beauty saloon. It offers such treatments as a Martian mud body pack, full manicure, hair tint, and a body massage with scented oil. One of the beauticians working in the saloon is a human woman named Gloria, another is a woman named Goviesha. Refs: RPG 2457 Bond's Iced Java ---------------- Sells iced Java and a variety of other coffees. Refs: none Samuels' Kosher Restaurant and Market ------------------------------------- The owner is Rachel Esther Samuels, a Human woman. The restaurant and market sell food according to Jewish tradition. Refs: none Rising Star Bar and Grill ------------------------- Owned by Rissa, an Orion woman (more under Club 101). Run by a Klingon man named Korj, formerly bartender on the USS Curie. It is a bar and restaurant, grittier than Club 101. The bar itself reflects Earth design from the era of sea sailing pirates. It is a fond pastiche of rough-and-tumble port bars, set in to replicated-oak furnishings. The smell is as authentic as are the furnishings. Refs: RPG 436, 2198 The Haberdashery ---------------- The owner is a Human man of British descent, a typical English gentleman. The shop sells men's furnishings (clothes). Refs: RPG 1168 Sarak and T'Sara's Books ------------------------ Owned by Sarak and T'Sara, a Vulcan man and woman. They are from 28 years in the future, but only very few people know this. They are mated and have a five-year-old daughter, T'Hannah. The shop sells mostly books on chips, but also some paper ones, on a wide variety of topics. Previews of all chips can be watched on displays mounted at the top of all shelves. Refs: RPG 759, 2990, 2991 Cafe Matisse ------------ Owned by Joe O'Neil. It is a medium-sized French style cafe with chairs and tables outside. It serves drinks and typical French food like croissants and is quieter than Club 101 and the Rising Star. Tinkerbell and her staff can sometimes be found here. Refs: RPG 43 Bajoran Shrine -------------- Run by Vedek Hylan and Prylar Karan, both Bajoran men. Refs: RPG 522, 2996 Club 101 -------- Owned by Rissa, an Orion woman and former slave. It is a popular bar with the Starfleet officers from DS101 and visiting ships. It is modeled after 20th century Earth clubs. Along the wall behind the bar are green florescent shelves that hold liquor bottles. The walls of the club are black. Running vertical up the walls are transparent tubes, each containing a different color compound. This is reminiscent of the lava lamps that were popular on Earth in the 1960s. In comparison to the Mall and most shops, the light level in the club is lower, being provided mostly by the lava lamps. At the far left of the club, located on the opposite side of the bar table, is a large viewscreen that can be viewed at nearly any point in the club. It is the first thing people see at the entrance of the club, since it is so enormous. The screen displays news reports and other events from a variety of worlds. Directly below the viewscreen, the floor is elevated about three steps up and shaped like a half circle shape. In addition to being a bar, the club functions as an informal restaurant. There are black tables that are located throughout the bar, including the elevated floor part below the viewscreen. There are servers who wait on these tables, providing food from most worlds, thanks to the many replicators located behind the bar. There are several holosuites on the second level, accessible from the club. Refs: RPG 384, 440 Animals Extraordinaire ---------------------- The owner is a woman, not married, almost forty years old. The shop sells about any animal imaginable. Refs: NRPG 2396 The Coffee Shop --------------- Owned by Morwenna Tralya, a Betazoid woman. Sometimes called the Vulcan Coffee Shop, its specialty is Vulcan coffee, but it also serves other Vulcan beverages and dishes, as well as Bajoran and Human dishes. It is famous for its excellent Hasparat. Refs: 3074 Pat's Plants ------------ Owned by Pat, a rather diminuitive Human woman. It sells plants and flowers, mostly from Earth, Betazed, Bajor, Bolius and Juun. Refs: RPG 2884, 3006, 3008 Nature's Bounty Organic Produce ------------------------------- Owned by Mickey and her older brother Jim, two Humans. It sells fresh produce from all over the Federation, as well as ingredients such as spices, herbs, rice and pasta. It also sells some cooking equipment. Refs: RPG 2884, 3006 Fabrics Limited --------------- Owned by a slim, elderly man. It is a small shop selling fabrics and tailor-made complete garments. Refs: 1599 The Glitter Box Art Dealers Inc. -------------------------------- Sells fine art work from all across the galaxy, like pictures, paintings, sculpures, holo-art. They also rent out holocameras by the hour. They are cheaper than Cosmic Treasures. Refs: RPG 1175, 1181 Compiled 2004 by Ruud Visser for the Holoworld Fleet, with additions from Aly Shapiro.
