Mirror Rock   12 OCT 1992

Standing tall
arms behind your back
hair is astir
the breeze has no feel
The substance under your feet is hard
but all around you lies a blanket of dotted mustard...
Reaching out across the land,
the telephone poles stretching straight
revealing a sense of outward distance
Giving reference to the location of un unknown winged beast--
eyes likes yours--
Alert to movement,
searching.
Mostly for a shade of gray
as that will bring temporary relief,
an answer to a problem,
An opening to a course of action.

Therefore, the immense, immoveable rock
an irregularity amongst the flat, seemingly endless, straight land
cannot be ignored or pushed aside.
It simply sits
waiting to be taken into account
to be worked around and started from
It knows it is needed.
For we all must take the time to find our own;
Climb up
out of the routine, rest, and
look outward, examining the land
for any flaws that may exist
so that we can correct and plan
to prevent further damage
All in a stance of
Reflection.
