John Lennon was introduced to me (as the president of the John Lennon Defense Committee [ha ha ha he didn't look like John Lennon] by David Rosario (aka David Peel, whom I worked with in concert, stage, T.V., and cable T.V. with as I was a member of the Lower East Side Band made famous by its association with John Lennon and Yoko Ono) on a wet rainy overcast day as we perchance met coming across each other while walking thru Washington Square of Manhattan. Mr. Lennon was in the company of his son Sean (I believe he was not introduced to me by David). All of which occurred one month prior to John's assasination by Mark David Chapman (whom I later met on visiting the Attica Correctional Facility where where Mark David Chapman was housed in the Special Housing Section for high profile inmates. To date I am to the best of my knowledge the only person to have ever met both John Winston Lennon and Mark David Chapman alive. John Lennon has been honored internationally as a man of peace by acts including the construction of a park built in his honor in Havana Cuba, and a section of Central Park in New York City called Strawberry Fields while lies a mosaic donated by the City of Naples, though New York City has capitalized, and continues to commercialize the work thru CD sales et al.
It is commonly believed (by those including myself) that John was assassinated, just as he was hounded by rightwing political and religious fanatics, besides J. Edgar Hoover, the F.B.I., the INS, and the U.S. government who relentless pursued him and to this day can not properly account for their agents' actions (who may have received the active assistance of dishonorable criminal elements. Though John was attacked by both those on his right and left it is pragmatically understood he reached the pinnacle of expression possible for a man in his position for if he had been able to do so we may have never know of him as he maybe would have been murdered earlier.

John Lennon born the 9th of October, 1940 while German warplanes bombed all parts of the harbor city of Liverpool where he was born. He lived with his parents Julia Stanley and Alfred Lennon, up until 6 years of age when he is left by his father. The mother, Julia, then went away to live with another man, and John was left to live with his aunt Mimi.
From a very young age he was already fond/loving of the arts, because he liked very much music and to draw. This why he has been said to insist his aunt Mimi buy him a guitar. He learned to play watching his mother play a Spanish guitar as if it were a banjo. In its school, he formed his own band, The Quarrymen. In addition he liked so much to draw making cartoons of his professors, who recommended to his aunt that he be sent to a school for the arts. |
From early age already anxious life. In the same school of art he met Cynthia Powell, with which she became pregant with first son, the only one of that relationship, Julian. At that time the Beatles was professionally beginning.
After many name changes, like Rainbow and Johnny and the Moondogs, and changes of member Pete Best to Ringo Starr), the Beatles formed by John, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They were the sensation of the moment. In addition a good songwriting duo in John and Paul that that created their first successes, like "Love Me Do", "She Loves You", "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and "From me to you", which continued until 1970 when the Beatles as a band broke up. |
The Beatles were to be in existence a very short time they were to have some notable effect of the music scene and the world. After becoming a hit sensation in the United Kingdom they toured world-wide making numerous appearances on American TV and the Ed Sullivan Show (left: which was almost all powerful in those days). Where the emotion, the hysteria and madness was once restrained it became uncontrollable. It was a total revolution everywhere in the world, especially in the United States where they filled the airport to see them. |
Around 1966, the hysteria and accumulative effect began to have its effects on the members of the group, which is the reason why began they began to become more private and "to shut in" in the studio. Brian Epstein, his manager, dies, and began the problems.
By the end of 1966, John falls in love with a Japanese nationalized American call Yoko Ono. They married in March of 1969. In effect this was said to of causes his breakup with Cynthia and the rupture between John and Paul. |
After his marriage with Yoko, he began to show more interest in by the artistic demonstrations (artisticas manifestations). As sometimes it said, their honeymoon for a peace cause. The world was in conflict by the war between Vietnam and the U.S.A. and one of the most famous manifestation was not more the series of "Bed-ins" that were publicized around the world. Personally I watched John perform in the demonstration to end the war in Viet Nam which was in front of, around, and Across from Bryant Park of Manhattan, New York City. |
In 1970, the Beatles separates, and John creates a song thought to be one of the most beautiful in history, "IMAGINE", which according to him, was inspired by Yoko. |
The years that followed for him were artistic and productive. He composed fantastic songs, like "Jealous guy", "9 Dream", "Mind Games", "Love", among others. |
In 1975 they gave birth to Sean Lennon, his second son, but first with Yoko. From then onward they took a break of 5 years to take care totally of their new born son. Already all cre n that John took of the appears of a retired gentleman, as he wanted to make a family life. Things were looking up as he was no longer hindered from entering the U.S.A., because his legal problems due to a minor charge of marijuana possession abated and stopped which culminated in his receipt of a residence card. |
In 1980 John and returned to the studio to record "Double Fantasy", they didn't know that would be his last record. When this disc began to have repercussion, when the night of the 8 of December of 1980 John was assassinated while entering The Dokata while in the company of his wife. The news was unbeleivable to many and thousands of fans were congregated to NYC street 79 to find out happened to John. And still today many ask why. As John and Yoko were very wealthy there may have been some attempt to extort money from them, or target them for many reasons ... |
