Ars Magica, currently in its 4th Edition and published by Atlas Games, is, in my opinion, the best RPG currently on the market. If you want to play wizards in a world very similar to Medieval Europe, it doesn't have any competition at all. However, I helped write the 4th Edition, so I now count as a rather biased source. "Time and Tide" is a Saga that I wrote for my own group. It collapsed when the magi decided that they could no longer live together, and one of them committed suicide, leaving the others to be imprisoned by the king. These are the notes from which I ran the Saga.
