1.         Sources of Data

 

1.1.     Data collection from primary data or sources (data generated or directly collected by researchers from respondents/ sources are called primary sources)

1.2.     Collection of secondary data or sources (secondary data are data collected by others/collector is called secondary source)

 

 

2.         Data Collection Strategy

2.1.     Census: complete enumeration

2.2.     Survey: uses a sample from which inferences on the population are made (sampling techniques: probability and non-probability sampling); according to Bailey 1994, surveys ask questions of on a (supposedly) representative cross-section of a population at a single point in time

2.3.     Key Informant: uses experts or respondents believed to be very knowledgeable on a population, situation, or event
