You stand on a hill top and look out over the forest. The  trees stand as living sentinels, guarding all of the creatures which live within them. The gentle breeze touches your face. You breath it in deep. It is not just the wind, it is the Wind of Life. Upon it is carried the smells of the busy world. That world which remains a mystery to the human is the Wolf's World. He knows of the struggles that take place within the forest and that death means life and so life eventually means death.

The forest calls and you take off keep a steady gait. The pulsing energy of the wolf body flows as the muscles ripple in their steady, strong motion.

You become aware of the precise action within your shoulders and your paws contacting the earth evenly. You are the drummer and earth your drum. Your paws are meeting that which is the true mother of you and your pack. She provides for you, pouring out blessing of plant, animal, and survival. Now with your paws hitting the dirt and the earth ever so slightly embracing them you are truly one with your Mother.

As you enter the shady forest you slow to a gentle pace. Leaves, plants, and twigs, decorating the forest, pull at your warm, protective coat. Rotting wood, growing plants, and the earth creates an aromatic perfume luring you deep within. You sigh exhaling the splendor and upon your next inhale you smell the wetness of the river.

You allow your legs to carry you to the edge of the riverside. A little way off you see diamonds dancing before you upon a water stage. The sun is the spotlight of this dance, and as you near it warms you, calling you to the show.  Hailing the call you near the waters and lower your head to taste of the liquid. Your vaguely aware of the cool, full taste. It is nothing compared to the memory of the taste of tap water that seems so far away at present. This water fills your body and spirit.

You raise your head and prick your ears and a melody of howls fills your ears. The pack calls. You take one final look at the splendor of the river, turn, and bound off toward your fellow pack mates. They are those that represent loyalty, love, companionship, care, order, and what your life stands for.

You find yourself again heading up the hill from where you started your journey earlier. You first notice a darkly colored, noble looking wolf awaiting you. It is the alpha, the leader. As you approach you lower your muzzle and tail in respect. He tips his head as if in question. Gently raise you head up extending your muzzle to signal you are but you are nervous.

He looks away and raises his muzzle to the sky and a cry arises from his lips. An unexpected rush of energy spreads throughout your body causing each muscle to react. Your body is alive with the call and your spirit flies dancing with the notes. The sensation reaches within you and requests answer.

You raise your muzzle singing your soul. Your song is that of enigmatic sights, sound and nature. It is the Wolf Spirit which is known to make the human quiver in response to the knowledge and strength reflected within the howl. In the howl the Wolf's Life rises up to the sky, the place of God.
