An Article About Nothing?

by Richard Shirk

I leave notes for the world in hopes someone will read and take note of them with the significance and importance of the Rosetta Stone.

I mountain biked through the golden brown hills of Berkeley's Tilden Park and came to a fork in the rode. I took the steepest grade path and found a maze of stone at the bottom, littered with beer cans, cigarette butts and ashes.

In the middle of the maze were letters to David, someone's dead brother and poetry by a guy named Joe. Next to Joe's poem about dandelions were withered flowers and a picture of the Virgin Mary.

I wrote what I felt, one simple sentence: "I love this world."
