Green Pygmy Geese

Rainbow Lorikeet

Only as long as your forearm
Tall? Only half way to your knee...
A very small goose indeed!

Swimming through warm waters
of northern lakes and lagoons
They float always in pairs and small flocks,
gliding through cascades of waterlilies,
The violet, blue and white petals bright shimmering
under the tropical sun.

Under a rising tropical moon
and the sinking of the sun
Under magical sprays of outflung stars
They swim the glimmering waters
To rest and nest
on outstretched branches and hollow logs
They forsake the shore.
