Egg Rock, Numinbah Valley 1

Egg Rock, Nunimbah Valley 1

The Numinbah Valley lies in the heart of the hinterland mountain range of the Gold Coast, Queensland. The valley is ringed with precipitous ranges carved from the basaltic outflows of the ancient Mt Warning volcanic activity to the south: the eastern side of the valley is overlooked by the Springbrook range while to the west and south the Binnaburra and Mt Lamington National Park range forms an almost impenetrable barrier. But Numinbah (and many other valleys ranging south all the way to Nimbin) contains curious volcanic cores thrusting up from the valley floor.
Unseen to us, these old valcanic mountains reach deep down into the earth's crust, like the sunken mass of an iceberg, while Rainbow Lorikeets play in the sky above. These are great sacred stones linking earth and sky.
