Aliment
Aliment is a strange sounding band incorporating in their sound various elements from a wide range of musical aspects. So, if you look for something strange, extreme and original, then here’s a good proposal for you...Read the interview below and you’ll find out yourselves.

1.FIRST OF ALL, I’D LIKE YOU TO TELL US A FEW THINGS ABOUT ALIMENT AND INTRODUCE THE BAND MEMBERS TO THE READERS. WHICH ARE YOUR GOALS AS A BAND?
ALIMENT is a band of four unique, original, and very different people. Rick Murphy (vocals, keys, and lyrics), Jason Sensation (guitars), Fernando Andino (bass), Juan B. (drums). Our goals as a band are to make some music, do some shows, make some new friends, make some new fans, make good albums, and have good shows, and film great after-show parties. Like any band should shoot for....
2.HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH THIS MONIKER? IT’S QUITE STRANGE. IS IT PERHAPS A WAY TO “INDICATE” TO THE LISTENERS THAT YOUR MUSIC IS FOOD FOR THEIR EARS AND MINDS?
Exactly! (ALIMENT n. 1. Food for body or mind; nutriment. 2. That which sustains or supports.) It's a very different band name than most these days. One simple word with such a deeply rooted meaning. It's also a word that's never used. Every living human being needs nutriment, support, and food for their mind and body, so therefore, everybody needs ALIMENT.
3.CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR MUSIC! YOU GAVE ME A HARD TIME TRYING TO DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND. IT’S REALLY DIFFICULT TO PUT YOU UNDER A SPECIFIC LABEL. YOU MOVE SOMEWHERE BETWEEN BRUTAL DEATH METAL AND HARDCORE WITH SOME INTENSE PUNK TINGES. DO YOU AGREE? HOW CAN YOU BLEND SO MANY SOUNDS AND YET CREATE A HOMOGENEOUS RESULT?
Thank you very much! I would agree with your label of ALIMENT, but when you hear our new self-titled CD; you'll have an even harder time labeling it, but an easier time enjoying it. We added noise, classic rock, and grind elements, just to name a few, to our sound in our new CD. We just love playing music. (Not something that's been done before, unless, of course, if it's a cover.) I guess, if people like it, we got lucky.
4.COULD YOU PLEASE POINT OUT SOME OF YOUR MOST BELOVED BANDS AND ALBUMS? WHICH MUSICIANS HAVE, LET’S SAY, “GUIDED” YOU TOWARDS THIS MUSICAL DIRECTION?
We mainly like bands like Pantera, ManOWar, Metallica, Fear Factory, Slayer, and stuff like that. We also got a lotta love for classic rock like Blue Oyster Cult, Billy Joel, Eric Clapton, and Jethro Tull. Juan has some interest in lighter "core" bands and Fernando likes some cheesy hair metal bands. I listen to noise and classical music too like Bach, Mozart, Chopin, and a bit of the old Ludwig Van.
5.RECENTLY YOU HAVE PARTICIPATED IN A COMPILATION CD BY STEVIE HAYES LABEL CALLED “UNCONSTITUTIONALISM IN THE USA”. TELL US A FEW THINGS ABOUT IT. WHICH OTHER BANDS DID YOU LIKE FROM THIS COMPILATION?
Well, I'm on the cover. Haha. I guess I like them all! Not to sound bland and unoriginal, but I really did. It was a greatly designed compilation CD.
6.WITH WHICH CRITERIA HAVE YOU SELECTED THE 3 SONGS THAT WOULD REPRESENT YOU IN THIS COMPILATION?
One was Genocide, which is our most political song. And the other two were the first two songs we finished recording for our new CD.
7.FILL US IN ON THE BAND RELEASES AND POINT OUT THE MAIN DIFFERENCES AND SIMILARITIES AMONG THEM. ARE YOU SATISFIED BY YOUR WORK THIS FAR?
We made a few short CDs not worth mentioning really. Then we made a double CD compilation of new and old and other music. Our newest CD is great new material. We've changed only personally, not intentionally so the music can still be loved the same way by the same people.
8.A FEW DAYS AGO YOU RELEASED YOUR NEW ALBUM. PLEASE TELL US A FEW THINGS ABOUT IT? WHERE WAS IT RECORDED? WHAT’S ITS MUSICAL DIRECTION, ETC?
It's my favorite ALIMENT CD yet! It's got some awesome heavy metal riffs and beats, grind patterns similar to McArbe, vocal patterns that can send into a daze or into the pit, and other cool things like an 80's sounding metal song, an old remake, a cool studio cover, and the best medley ever! It was recorded at my house, Jason's house, Juan's house, a few friends houses, and at our Jeff Metal Studio too. Its musical direction is one of less comedy and a bit more seriousness. We set sail with no map as usual wanting the listener to, at the end of the album, say; "Oh my god!"
9.WHAT ABOUT THE LYRICAL CONTENT OF YOUR SONGS? FROM THE FEW THINGS I GOT TO REALIZE YOU MUST DEAL WITH SOCIOPOLITICAL TOPICS AND WAR. AM I RIGHT? TELL US A FEW THINGS ABOUT THEM. WHICH ARE YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION?
Most of the lyrics are based upon my personal feelings and experiences in life. People pick fights with me, hate me, use me, and send their dogs out to attack me. I've been kicked, punched, stabbed, bitten, laughed at, etc. A lot of the lyrics reflect that. One song from the new CD Klitch is about killing, eating cats, being racist, etc. Feature Presentation is about random thoughts.
10.ARE YOU SATISFIED BY THE FEEDBACK YOU’VE GOT SO FAR FROM THE PRESS AND FANS? WHAT WAS THE MOST FLATTERING AND WHAT WAS THE WORST COMMENT YOU’VE READ?
I am satisfied. Most people have liked their ALIMENT experience. I am very glad with that, but I want ALIMENT to get big one day. Not too likely, I think. The most flattering thing I can remember hearing is that ALIMENT is great and happy and funny and cool. Someone said our one CD was his favorite. Even out of popular bands. But whenever somebody has said bad things about ALIMENT, it was someone we know and they were just jealous of what we have. Haha. Which is almost nothing really.
11.HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC TO SOMEONE THAT HAS NEVER HEARD OF YOU? I’D LIKE TO KNOW SINCE YOU GAVE ME A REALLY HARD TIME TRYING TO DESCRIBE YOUR SOUND IN MY REVIEW.
Play ALIMENT and let them judge for themselves. If a picture is worth a thousand words, imagine how many you'd have to use to describe one song.
12.WHAT’S THE BEST AND WHAT’S THE WORST PART IN YOUR MUSIC, ACCORDING TO YOU?
I can't tell you for sure. The bad part for me might be that I can't get enough of a good thing.
13.DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS FOR LIVE SHOWS? WHAT SHOULD THE METALHEADS EXPECT TO SEE?
Don't expect, hope and pray to see us if you like us because my band mates aren't too into the idea of playing too many ALIMENT shows. They all GOT OTHER BANDS.
14.IF YOUR MUSIC WERE AN EMOTION, WHAT WOULD IT BE? IF IT WERE A PAINTING, WHAT WOULD IT SHOW?
I like to consider myself an artist, but I don't think I can answer those questions. Sorry.
15.IF YOU COULD INVITE A FAMOUS MUSICIAN TO PARTICIPATE IN YOUR ALBUM, WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
No doubt, Dimebag Darrell. As long as we can have him alive. He is the master of recording on 4-Track recorders and that's what we use.
16.THANK YOU! LEAVE A MESSAGE TO THE READERS…
Have a nice day! Order the new ALIMENT CD. We hope and think you'll like it. Bye!
