1.FIRST OF ALL CONRATULATIONS FOR DISQUITETUDE. EXCELLENT PIECE OF WORK!
Thanks!  We’re very happy with it and are excited about all the positive reviews.
2.I THINK IT'S MORE THAN ESSENTIAL THE PRESENTATION OF THE BAND TO THE READERS. PLEASE INTRODUCE YOURSELVES AND POINT OUT THE MOST IMPORTANT MOMENTS OF THE BAND'S HISTORY.
The band is made up of Boyd on drums, Dan on guitar and myself (Brent) on bass and vocals.  There are also fans that do a ton of work promoting the band that deserve credit too.  We all began playing together in 1992 and were in middle school at the time.  We’ve been playing together since then, although for 6 years Dan was a professional figure skater for Disney on Ice and we were only able to practice and write music a couple of months each year when he wasn’t on tour.  He retired in 2000 and we’re a full time band again now.  We recorded a demo in 1998 just for our own experience and then recorded an EP called “Promulgations of a Self-Consuming Misanthrope” in 2001.  Around that time both Boyd and I became involved with Throat Culture Magazine, a metal magazine with international distribution.  We’re now co-owners. I also opened a metal venue here in Colorado at the beginning of the year.  As expected these other music related ventures have also been a benefit for the band.  These and the release of our new CD will prove to be the most important moments in our history.
3.YOU HAVE A NEW AND SELF FINANCED ALBUM OUT UNDER THE TITLE "DISQUIETUDE". TELL US A FEW GENERAL THINGS ABOUT IT. THIS CD CONSISTS OF NEW SONGS AND OLDER ONES ALREADY EXISTING IN YOUR PREVIOUS WORK. WHY DID YOU DO THAT? DO YOU OBSERVE ANY CHANGES WITHIN YOUR STYLE AMONG THE NEW AND OLDER SONGS?
Disquietude is a full length CD with 10 songs and we’re really proud of it.  We spent a lot of time and money to make sure the writing, production, and packaging were perfect.  There are several songs on this album that we released two years ago on our EP.  We decided to re-record those songs because we felt they were too good to forget about and the EP didn’t get the attention that we knew disquietude would get.  We have definitely grown as songwriters, but our style is so unique that first time listeners may not recognize which songs are new and old.  I can’t say our style has changed but it has matured.
4.PERSONALLY I THINK THAT LYRICS ARE VERY IMPORTANT AND GOOD LYRICS CAN "HELP" A SONGS AND MAKE IT WORTH EVEN MORE. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS? WHERE ARE YOUR LYRICS REFERRING TO AND WHAT INSPIRES YOU IN WRITING LYRICS?
We also feel that lyrics are very important and I’m disappointed that most bands don’t care more about theirs.  I think music should touch people with words that convey an idea and music that conveys the emotion.  We begin by writing the music.  Based then on how the music moves me and what issues I’m dealing with in life, I’ll write lyrics accordingly.  In this respect we come across as dark and moody.  I very much enjoy gothic music tend to deal with similar issues lyrically.
5.WHY DID YOU NAME THE ALBUM THIS WAY? WHAT MAKES YOU DISQUIET? TELL US ABOUT THE COVER ARTWORK AND EXPLAIN WHAT IT PRESENTS.
As a band we very much push intelligence and multiple levels of thought through metaphors.  This transcends us as a band so you can see it in our lyrics, artwork and even titles.  Disquietude means  “worried unease and anxiety” which fits a certain side of the band’s personality.  Most people see the “quiet” in the word and think it has something to do with sound.  The cover artwork is the same.  It seems simple at first, although it does jump out against other album covers.  But there is also much depth to it.  There are many layers each with different meaning.  Without seeing it, there’s no way to describe it.  To me it represents emptiness, disintegration and beauty all at once.
6.DO YOU THINK YOU'D BE ABLE TO CREATE SUCH A MUSIC IF YOU AGREED ON EVERYTHING? I MEAN...YOU SAY IN YOUR BIO THAT YOUR DIVERSITY OF TASTES AND IDEAS MADE THE SONGS SOUND LIKE THIS. SO, DO YOU THINK DIVERSITY IN TOUGHTS AND WAY OF THINKING IS ESSENTIAL FOR THE EVOLUTION IN EVERY FIELD?
I know the different tastes in music and ideas the three of us have is definitely why our music is so different, but I don’t believe that would work in every case.  We all have very strong ideas and when it comes to decide which way to go on something, we just vote. The only way this works is because we’ve been together for so long we know how each other think.  While we have strong ideas, we know when to step back as an individual for the benefit of the band.  I don’t believe there are many other bands out there where the members are equal and with different opinions but strong enough to step back when it’s best.  I don’t know if this way of operating would lend itself to other fields.  I would assert that it currently is not done this way because it takes a unique mentality that isn’t present in traditional hierarchal management systems.
7.WHY DO YOU THINK THERE ARE FEW WOMEN LISTENING TO HEAVY METAL MUSIC? WHAT IS THIS THAT KEEPS THEM AWAY?
I’m not an expert but I think the very aggressive nature of other metal bands turns off women to their music.  Their crowds can be violent and the musicians misogynistic. On the other hand we value our female fans as humans.  We’re gentle natured as individuals and our music isn’t as aggressive as other metal bands.  The themes of our songs also seem to appeal to women.  Where we’re sensitive and emotionally driven, other metal musicians seem to be driven by testosterone.
8. THERE IS SOMETHING CONTRADICTORY IN THE U.S. ON ONE HAND YOU HAVE EXTREMELY PROMISING AND GOOD BANDS AND ON THE OTHER HAND IT SEEMS AS THE FANS OVER THERE HAVE LACK OF METAL EDUCATION, THUS THEY FOLLOW EVERY TREND. WHY DO YOU THINK THIS HAPPENS? HOW DIFFICULT ARE THINGS FOR A METAL MUSICIAN IN THE U.S.?
You’re absolutely right.  It is very difficult as an underground musician in the US because the people who would like underground music don’t have a way to easily find it. Not enough people here care about finding new music and are happy to follow the radio trend. The majority might not even realize that there’s an underground scene with amazing talent. That makes it hard for bands like Anomy because we have to do so much extra work to get the word out. Perhaps that’s why the talent is so good though. You have to be better than what is on the radio and better than the other underground bands to make it as an independent artist.
9.WHICH ACCORDING TO YOU IS THE BEST AND MOST RECOGNIZABLE ELEMENT IN YOUR MUSIC? IS THERE A FIELD WHERE YOU THINK YOU NEED FURTHER IMPROVEMENT?
The best thing about our music in my opinion is our ability to convey emotion through a blend of heavy and soft in every song and keep every song sounding different from the others.  The most recognizable though is probably our hooks. We’ve been told that our music is very catchy and memorable. As for improvement, I would really like to develop my range further as a vocalist and be able to do more with the songwriting process vocally. I never sang before in my life until just a few years ago when we couldn’t find anyone else to take that position, so I still think of myself first as a bassist and have a lot of growing to do as a singer.
10.IF YOUR MUSIC WERE AN EMOTION, WHAT WOULD IT BE? IF IT WERE A PAINTING, WHAT WOULD IT SHOW?
That’s a hard one because each song on the new album is very different emotionally. As a whole though I think we lean towards depression, regret and frustration. If it were a painting it would be the Mona Lisa (because of the intrigue of the smile and the beauty) but painted by Francisco de Goya during his late years.
11.IF YOU COULD TRAVEL IN TIME, WHICH HISTORICAL PERIOD WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT AND WHAT WOULD YOU MISS THE MOST FROM OUR TIMES?
To be honest I’d rather go forward in time. I’m regretful that I won’t be alive to see travel to another solar system. I know that sounds silly, but I’ve always been fascinated with science and space. If I were to go back in time I would like to witness the growth of the city of Toledo in Spain. I would regret the lack of access to the internet though. The amount of information that is so readily available and the ability to meet people a world away is invaluable.
12.YOU ARE GRANTED ONE WISH. WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH IT?
I would wish for world environmental sustainability and political and corporate accountability in regards to the environment.
13.IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO MEET THE CREATURE THAT CREATED THE UNIVERSE, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO ASK HIM?
I’m an atheist, so this is a very interesting question. Hypothetically though, I suppose I would ask what was in the suitcase in “Pulp Fiction”.
14.WHICH IS THE STRANGEST/WEIRDEST QUESTION SOMEONE'S EVER ASKED YOU?
In one interview I was asked if my genitals were genetically alike to my brothers (Boyd).  Scary!  And if you’re curious, I don’t know.  I’ve never looked.
15.WHY DID YOU NAME THE BAND THIS WAY? ARE YOU AWARE OF ITS GREEK ROOT? WHAT DO YOU WANT TO EXPRESS WITH IT?
We named the band Anomy because of what it means, it’s one word, and it starts with the letter “A”. I’m not sure of the Greek root, but I am aware of the contemporary meaning. The dichotomy fits the band very well.
16.THANK YOU! HAVE I FORGOTTEN TO ASK YOU ANYTHING AND YOU'D LIKE TO ADD?
