Balatonizer
Well, I had quite many
things to say in this prologue, however, after reading this interview my
mind is blank! Why? Simply because Balatonizer have said everything for
themselves! So, the only thing I can do is invite you to read this interesting
interview and support this great grindcore band!
1.HELLO AND MY CONGRATULATIONS FOR "OCCLUSED
IN OTTUSITY". IT IS A VERY GOOD ALBUM! HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT IT? ARE YOU
SATISFIED WITH THE FINAL RESULT OR WOULD YOU LIKE TO CHANGE SOME THINGS?
Hi,thanks for your great words.We are glad
about our work, we have spent a lot of time to realize the final mixing
of this release. Surely there is always something to do better but we are
satisfied about it!
2.SINCE I DON'T KNOW MANY THINGS ABOUT YOU, I
WOULD LIKE YOU TO GIVE US A SHORT BAND BIO AND PRESENT THE CURRENT LINE-UP.
We come from Palermo. The band was born in
1997, we grew up in a dull perseverance trying to create today's solid
obsolete dimension. In 1998 our first demo came titled "Balatonizer" in
pure grindecore style. In 2001 we became a brutal trio composed by Mario
(voice growl/scream), Marco(guitar/drum-programmer), Rodan(bass) and our
Drum-machine that satisfied our concept of "vulgar-death-grind"style. At
the beginning it was an expedient...but,as time passed by, we found out
our own musical dimension with it. We think now it's a sort of Balatonizer's
trademark!
In 2002 the demo "Occlused in Ottusity", in
2003 the EP "Reborn in Ignorance" and in July 2004 the full-lenght"Occlused
in Ottusity" with the American label Devildollrecors/ThisDarkReign from
Long Beach California.
3.THOUGH YOU ARE FROM ITALY, A LABEL FROM U.S.A.
HAS SIGNED YOU. HOW DID YOU SUCCEED IN THAT? ARE YOU SATISFIED TILL NOW
FROM YOUR LABEL?
We have sent our demo to many labels and John
from Devildollrecords showed trust in our work. We think that in Italy
there are no chances for our genre. We are in a small label and we can't
expect a big promotion but we believe that our producer is doing a good
work about promotion and distribution not only in Canada and USA.
4.IN YOUR BOOKLET YOU HAVEN'T INCLUDED THE LYRICS,
CAN YOU TELL US WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEM AND WHAT KIND OF THEMES YOU
LIKE TO TALK ABOUT?
As you noticed we haven't got texts. The only
semblance of message that we want to transmit is totally expressed in the
comic artwork, drawn by our guitarist/drum-programming Marco, inside the
cd. What we want to comunicate with our project is only brutality at its
wildest form. I use a Neanthertal language addressed to the reducted cerebral
cosciencial state of our public that, during the listening of our cd, fall
in a cataleptic state and expresses itself using the most primordial intellectual
capabilities. It's only in that phase that the most primitive and brutal
human expression comes out in it's marvellous spontaneity. Our listeners
are free to understand the message they like more. This is what we like
to transmit to our fans. To be able to evocate the most obscure emotions,
provoking the aggressive instincts of our fans that reduce it in a beating
quarrelsome mass foggied by our sonic violence.
5.SOMETHING THAT I FIND EXTREMELY INTERESTING
IS THAT THE BOOKLET OF YOUR CD IS PAINTED AS A COMIC BOOK. WHY DID YOU
DECIDE TO DO THAT? WHO IS THE ARTIST? CAN YOU TELL US IN A FEW WORDS THE
STORY OF THE STRIP INSIDE YOUR BOOKLET?
Yes we are so ironic people and we like to
express oursleves with that comic. Our guitarist Marco Failla is a professional
drawer. In the last years he drew the new edition of Masters comics in
USA. In a few words there are three idiots that are walking in a forest;
a strong smell attract us into a cavern where we find Balaton that give
us a power; We become three giants with huge muscles and after that Balaton
kicks us to the society to make a big cleaning in the last scene of the
comics.
6.SINCE WE TALK ABOUT THE BOOKLET ON THE FRONT
PAGE, IT SHOWS YOU AMONGST PIGS. DOES THIS PICTURE HAVE A SPECIAL MEANING?
Yes we love pigs that seem to be an ironic
stupid animal like us! Their faces are so expressive and it's an honour
for us to stay occlused together with pigs in the front page!
7.IF SOMEONE THAT HASN'T LISTEN TO YOUR MUSIC
ASKED YOU TO DESCRIBE IT, WHAT WOULD YOU TELL HIM?
As you can listen to, our relase is a mix
of brutality mid-tempo and lashes of pure sonorous violence in full grind
style. Our maniac and psychotic perseverance in the application brought
us, during many years, to create a sub-animal product, where idiotic brutality,
millimetric precision and sectioned metric are the things that characterize
our work. Our style experiments, divides, reassembles and destroys everything
reducing the tracks in pills of devastating violence soaked in Death, Grind,
Crust, Black, etc proposed in Balatonizer's key. A continuous rain of idiotic
riffings and a devastating drumming in a no breath sequence, all mixed
with various samples taken from mafia movie and Italian cult movies of
the 70's.
8.WHICH BANDS HAVE INFLUENCED YOU? NAME 5 OF YOUR
ALL TIME FAVORITE METAL ALBUMS...
There were many bands that influenced our
trip during our long activity. Founders like Cannibal Corpse, Deicide,
Suffocation, Death, Brutal Truth, Pestilence, Napalm Death, Malevolent
Creation, Vomitory,etc... and more recent like Nile, Mortician, Dying Fetus,
Internal Bleeding, Sinister, Agoraphobic Nosebleed,etc... but would be
reductive to make a so short list for the fact that there are many other
bands that meant a lot to us. 5 best albums:"ConsumingImpulse" Pestilence;
"Legion" Deicide; "Scum" Napalm Death; "Extreme conditions demand extreme
response" Brutal Truth; "Bloodthirst" Cannibal Corpse.
9.HOW DID THE PRESS AND FANS ACCEPT YOUR ALBUM
TILL NOW? WHICH WAS THE BEST AND WHICH THE WORST REVIEW THAT YOU HAVE READ?
Here the response is wonderful. As for the
reviews we have just begun to receive them from all around the world and
the first responses are very cool! I'll link every review in my site that
will come out on the web with a renewed style next month.
10.IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO COOPERATE WITH A FAMOUS
MUSICIAN OR PRODUCER WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
I can't make a list it will be too long. For
producer we'd like Erik Rutan.

13.HAVE YOU SEEN ANY MOVIES LATELY THAT YOU LIKED
AND WOULD LIKE TO PROPOSE TO THE READERS?
I don't know. I haven't see many movies lately.
Big Lebonsky is a cool movie!
14.WILL YOU DO ANY LIVE SHOWS? IS IT A POSSIBILE
TO PLAY OUTSIDE ITALY TOO?
Sure we play concerts, summing up our I.Q.
(intelligence quozient) during a live performance you don't reach the elementary
sufficiency. We are foggy by grotesque and obsolete figures that urge us
to realize devastating performances. We hope to come in your land with
a tour as soon as possible!
