Beer to most of the people offers
laughter and joy. To some also is a source of inspiration. Birghtness with
this magical potion create a Heavy Metal Holocaust. Drink & Destroy!!!!
1.GIVE US A SHORT BIOGRAPHY OF THE
BAND. INTRODUCE THE MEMBERS.
Brightness exist for nearly 6 years
now, we all started playing music at almost the same time and have been
friends even before we could play one cord. At the beginning we covered
Metal Classics, but we soon realized that we wanted to write our own songs.
Till now we have made two demos. The first one Headbangers Symphony was
recorded in our old practice room, the second one is a Live-Demo. At the
moment we are in the songwriting process and after that we´ll be
recording our first studio album.
2.COULD YOU EXPLAIN US HOW YOU CHOSE
THIS BAND NAME AND WHAT DO YOU WANT TO SAY WITH IT?
Brightness was a word in one of our
first songtexts (we dropped it after a while) and we were searching for
a band name. It sounded good and differed from all the usual Heavy Band
names. So we named the band Brightness. We don´t want to say something
special with it. Everyone can think for himself what sense he sees in it.
3.HOW MANY DEMOS-ALBUMS HAVE YOU RELEASED?
ARE YOU STILL SATISFIED WITH THEM OR WOULD YOU LIKE TO CHANGE SOMETHING?
HOW HAVE YOU DECIDED TO RELEASE A DEMO IN A FORM OF LIVE?
Musically seeing things from today's
point of view we naturally would have done some things different, but we
are not unsatisfied with the demos because they reflect our standard in
playing and songwriting at that time, so it´s ok, I think it´s
natural that after a while you think you could have done this or that better.
We decided to make a Live-Demo because we were just on our Drink&Destroy-Club
Tour and we wanted to bridge the long time between the first demo and the
forthcoming studio output.
4.WHAT ARE YOUR LYRICS TALKING ABOUT?
We write about what just comes in our
minds. We have songs against war or corrupt and unrighteous forms of government,
but we also have songs that just discribe the fun and the action of Metal
Concerts.
5.HAVE YOU DONE ANY LIVE SHOWS? DO
YOU LIKE PERFORMING LIVE?
Yes, last year we were playing Live
very often. And we love it very much. We are definitely a Live-Band. And
we are still looking forward to playing some gigs again, after our songwriting
and studio break.
6.WHICH ARE THE MAIN DIFFERENCES AND
SIMILARITIES IN YOUR MUSIC AND TO YOU AS PERSONALITIES FROM THE DAY YOU
FIRSTLY FORMED THE BAND TILL NOW?
In us as personalities there´s
no difference. In the music we naturally worked on ourselves and developped
a bit. At least I hope that.
7.WHICH ARE THE AIMS YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE
THROUGH YOUR MUSIC?
We just want to have fun and be lucky
that we can make music. we are fans ourselves and that´s exactly
what we want to express. We want to give Metal Heads exactly that feeling
that we have, when we go to concerts.
8.WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WEREN'T
ABLE TO COMPOSE MUSIC?
I don´t know. It´s hard
to imagine.
9.WHICH DO YOU THINK IS THE MOST IDEAL
TO REPRESENT YOUR MUSIC FROM ALL THE SONG YOU' VE COMPSOED?
I think that Headbangers Symphony.
It is one of the newer songs and does most of all songs lead into the direction
of our music today.
10.WHICH ARE YOUR INFLUENCES? THE 80'S
FEELING IS OBVIOUS EVERYWHERE, MUSIC, APPEARANCE...
Our influences are Metallica, Rage,
Priest, everything that was good in the 80´s. I think the best Metal
Music was written in that period. The new things just are not the same
at all.
11.HOW DID THE METALHEADS REACT TO
YOUR DEMO SO FAR?
Many liked it, of course some didn´t
like it. That´s normal. I think the resonance was OK till now. We
also got some good reviews in some magazines.
12.WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THE
GERMAN METAL SCENE? GERMANY IS THE CAPITAL OF METAL.
I´m glad to live in Germany because
here exists still such a "big" Metal Scene. If you don´t mind driving
a bit you can often find Underground Concerts and Parties. What I think
is still not so positive is the gap between the Truemetal and the BlackMetal-divison.
That is in Holland for example better. They are still like in the 80 ´s
one big unit.
12.DO YOU LIKE READING BOOKS? WHICH
IS YOUR MOST BELOVED BOOK AND AUTHOR?
I myself like reading books, but I
have no time to read a lot of books. I don´t have a favourite author
or something like that. A book I read was for example the english version
of "A time to kill" from John Grisham. Our guitarist Steffen for example
likes reading history books.
13.WOULD YOU LIKE TO COMPOSE THE SOUNDTRACK
FOR A MOVIE? WHICH MOVIE WOULD YOU CHOOSE?
The film sleepers for example inspired
us for a song. I know it´s not very original because many bands did
it before, but if we would have to write a soundtrack, I guess we would
choose Braveheart.
15.DO YOU BELIEVE THAT METAL HAS MUCH
MORE TO OFFER IN THE YEARS TO COME OR IS IT A DEAD DEAL AS MANY SAY
NOWADAYS?
Unfortunately it is true that the climax
of the Metal movement is over and I don´t believe that it some time
will be like it was 15 years ago. But really that doesn´t matter.
There will always be some crazy Metal Freaks with which you can have great
parties. It´s not important if there´s some more or less. At
least you can be sure that the ones who remained are real Fans and do not
listen to Metal because it´s just trendy at the time. METAL TILL
THE END
