BULLETHOLE
Ther
music is fast and raw, heavy and while, filled with anger and excitement.
They come from Greece. They are the new blood of the scene with a sound
close to THE HAUNTED and HATEBREED and their name is... B U L L E T H O
L E ! ! !
1.FIRST OF ALL GIVE US A SHORT BAND
BIO AND PRESENT THE BAND TO THE READERS.
We were formed in late 1999 by
me and Andreas as Human Decay. After completing our line-up we had some
shows in Athens and recorded a Demo-CD called “Hollow”. After a few months
I joined the army and while being there we recorded a 4-track promo entitled
“Moment of Hate”.We begun recording a full album in mid 20002 when Black
lotus heard the promo through Set<’H> from Septic Flesh who was preparing
the artwork for the album and they signed us…It was at that point we changed
our name to Bullethole…
2.YOU’VE JUST RELEASED YOUR DEBUT ALBUM
UNDER THE TITLE “INCARCERATION”. WHY DID YOU NAME IT THIS WAY? TELL
US A FEW THINGS ABOUT IT. ARE YOU STILL SATISFIED WITH IT?
Well, it’s just a song title…one
of our favorites so…why not? It’s a nice word representing most of the
lyrical style of the album… and since you’ve noticed it it surely fulfills
its purpose...draw attention! Now the album was recorded during 2002 at
Studio 5,mixed at Praxis Studios and mastered at Athens mastering. We are
very satisfied with the album. It’s loud, heavy and clear and almost exactly
the way we wanted it to sound!
3.WHERE ARE YOUR LYRICS REFERRING TO?
WHAT INSPIRES YOU IN WRITING LYRICS AND WHAT CAN TAKE AWAY THE INSPIRATION
FROM YOU?
Lyrics are mainly inspired by anger.
These moments of life when you think that you will explode if you don’t
express your anger. It doesn’t matter the exact fact it’s just the feeling
that inspires me to write lyrics. I guess when I’ll be forty-five maybe
the anger will go away but even then I’ll still write lyrics, it’s about
writing your thoughts in paper, and I don’t think I’ll ever stop thinking…
4.NAME SOME OF THE BAND’S INFLUENCES
AND SOME OF YOUR MOST BELOVED ALBUMS.
Influences…it’s all that brutal
stuff from thrash to hardcore, you know bands like Slayer or The Haunted
or the groove from bands like Sepultura and Hatebreed. There are lots of
albums which were influential for us and we still like them after many
years. I can’t name just a couple of albums, there are too many!
5. DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS FOR TOURING?
HOW DID YOU FEEL THE FIRST TIME YOU GOT ON STAGE?
Woo…the first time was ecstatic…even
though we were lot different from now I still remember that feeling….Amazing! We
try getting that feeling back in every show...Now about touring that’s
quite difficult cause Andreas and Leyteris are joining the army on late
May, so we will just continue writing new songs for the next album.
6.WHICH DO YOU THINK IS THE MOST IDEAL
SONG TO REPRESENT YOUR WORK AND IF YOU COULD MAKE A VIDEO CLIP HOW DO YOU
IMAGINE IT TO BE?
Well, we believe that “Incarceration”
will do the job; it has every aspect of our style, like fast parts, groovy
parts and a little melody too. A video clip huh? I suppose something like
Metallica’s “One”, simple and raw, would be great!
7.ARE YOU SATISFIED BY THE FEEDBACK
YOU GOT THIS FAR? WHICH WAS THE BEST AND WHICH WAS THE WORST REVIEW YOU
HAVE RECEIVED? HOW DO YOU REACT TO A BAD REVIEW?
It’s too early to talk about feedback;
to this point all the reviews we’ve seen were fantastic and we are very
excited about this, but it’s still too early. In case of a bad review we
would find the guy and kill all his relatives and friends...then we would
slowly torture him to death…The truth is that you can’t do anything, you
just accept the fact that someone doesn’t like your music, and that’s ok
with us…everyone has his opinions!
8.DO YOU THINK THINGS WOULD BE EASIER
FOR YOU IF YOU WERE FROM A NORTHERN COUNTRY? DO YOU BELIEVE THAT GREEKS
SUPPORT THE LOCAL BANDS?
I think it would be easier to have
access in better studios or more chances of playing live with great bands
but generally I think that things are quite ok here in Greece. Fans tend
to support good bands wherever they might come from so I believe that few
bands in Greece work hard enough to deserve this support. Bands like Septic
Flesh or Rotting Christ which continually offer us great music get the
support they deserve from the fans here in Greece.
9.WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO A FAN TO CONVINCE
HIM BUY YOUR RELEASE INSTEAD OF SOMETHING ELSE?
Mmm…just give this album a chance
and hear it a couple of times. I want to believe that most people would
like it and I wouldn’t be forced to convince them!
10.IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO TRAVEL
IN TIME, WHICH HISTORICAL PERIOD WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT AND WHAT WOULD
YOU MISS THE MOST FROM OUR TIMES?
I guess it would be Athens of 5000
B.C. It would be interesting to watch all these great minds in one town
talking about things that today are being teached as philosophy. Of course
it is music I would miss most from our times an some comforts such as electricity
etc.
11.IF YOU HAD THE CHANCE TO MEET THE
CREATURE THAT CREATED THE UNIVERSE, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO ASK HIM?
Hmm…Will I play in Wacken Open
Air next year? Just kidding…probably I would ask Him why he lets this world
getting worse day by day.
12.…AND SUDDENLY ELECTRICITY CEASE
TO EXIST. WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD HAPPEN TO HEAVY METAL? WOULD IT BE FORGOTTEN
OR TRANSFORMED?
It definitely would be transformed
into some kind of brutal folk music, using traditional instruments! There
has to be a kind of music expressing the aggression of man!
13.WHICH IS MAN’S BIGGEST TEMPTATION?
Definitely success, in whatever
forms anyone gets it. Leaving important things behind and chasing fake
dreams and hopes of being happier while you already have enough! Many people
just don’t realize how truly happy they are!
14.WHAT TITLE WOULD YOU LIKE THIS INTERVIEW
TO HAVE?
BULLETPROOF APOCALYPSE? Don’t really
know…it’s difficult!
15.THANK YOU! HAVE I FORGOTTEN TO ASK
YOU ANYTHING AND YOU’D LIKE TO MENTION?
Nope! Thanx for you interest, and
take care!
