This is the second interview
we present with Calmsite and this can only mean a few things...In fact
the answer is simple. Calmsite have a new mini cd out which is very, very
interesting and great, showing an improved and much promising band and
Behind The Veil couldn't lose the chance to have a nice chat with these
newcomers. Jukka is the voice of the band and here we have him...
1.WHAT HAPPENED TO CALMSITE FROM
THE RELEASE OF "STEELPIT" TILL NOW?
Nothing much, few new songs...
2.WHY DID YOU RELEASE 2 MCDS IN THE
SAME YEAR AND NOT A FULL LENGTH RELEASE CONTAINING ALL THESE SONGS? WHAT
DID YOU ACHIEVE WITH SUCH A MOVEMENT AND HOW HAVE YOU DECIDED TO DO SO?
A full lenght comes as soon as
we achieve a record deal. Till that, we'll continue releasing these 'promo
mcds' ;)
3.CONGRATULATIONS FOR "BITE THE POWERLINE"!
A GREAT MCD AND ALTHOUGH I LIKED "STEELPIT" A LOT, I THINK THIS ONE IS
BETTER, WITH A MORE PERSONAL STYLE. DO YOU THINK CALMSITE MANAGED TO FIND
THEIR SOUND OR
ARE YOU STILL IN A SEARCH OF YOUR
MUSICAL IDENTITY?
I think we are close but hopely
never stop improving.
4.CAN YOU POINT OUT THE DIFFERENCES
AND SIMILARITIES BETWEEN "STEELPIT" AND "BITE THE POWERLINE"? IF YOU HAD
THE CHANCE TO CORRECT SOMETHING NOW WHAT WOULD THAT BE?
Of course there are some differences,
but the basics are same. On BtP the sound is much better, songs are more
in line and the keyboards show some promise of the future... maybe.
5.WHERE ARE YOUR LYRICS REFERRING TO?
WHAT KIND OF SUBJECTS DRAW YOUR ATTENTION?
Death, violence, war, and of course
slicing up the unknown man... To us lyrics aren't as important as to many
others. Vocals are just another instrument.
6.HAVE YOU DONE ANY LIVE SHOWS? COULD
YOU DESCRIBE TO THE READERS, WHAT THEY SHOULD EXPECT FROM A CALMSITE LIVE
SHOW?
Yes, we've done gigs. And what
you should expect is some deathrocking adrenaline.
7.WHAT KIND OF FEEDBACK DID YOU RECEIVE
THIS FAR FROM THE FANS AND PRESS TILL NOW? ARE YOU SATISFIED? HAVE YOU
SPOTTED SOME OBSERVATIONS THEY REPEAT IN ALMOST ALL THE REVIEWS?
We are more than satisfied with
the feedback. Many say that we've managed to find an original sound, and
that it keeps getting more and more US-death-like than swedish.
8.ARE YOU IN TOUCH WITH ANY LABELS?
DID YOU HAVE ANY PROPOSALS? WITH WHAT CRITERIA WILL YOU SELECT A LABEL?
Not really no. Something minor
but nothing worth mentioning about. We're looking for a fair deal with
a fair company, we're realists.
9.WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF THERE WAS NO
MUSIC IN THE WORLD?
Probably we would been driven to
try some sports...
