Cephalic Mortification
is a band with really morbid and sick sound and lyrics and I think they
address to people with a black sense of humor and with a really extreme
sounding taste.So, here is what the band answered to our questions.
1. FIRST OF ALL, POINT OUT THE MOST IMPORTANT
ACHIEVEMENTS OF CEPHALIC MORTIFICATION UP TO DATE AND PRESENT THE CURRENT
LINE UP TO THE READERS…
Well. Our biggest achievement is what we have
now, because we started 5 years ago with buckets and a guitar with no amp.
And now we have all the proper equipment and shit.. Well almost.
Up-to-date.. Our greatest achievement would have to be doing the recording
of the Grime Cunt cd, which should be released soon. The sound
is more raw and brutal than any of our older stuff before that.
2. THE THREE SONGS OF YOURS I HAD THE CHANCE TO
LISTEN TO ARE IMBUED IN SICKNESS AND BRUTALITY AND ARE REALLY MORBID SOUNDING.
DO YOU AGREE? WHY? WHICH ARE THE MUSICIANS THAT HAVE, LET’S SAY, “GUIDED”
YOU TOWARDS THIS MUSICAL DIRECTION?
We do agree with the morbidness of our music,
but there is a lot of room for more improvement. (Meaning a lot more death,
gore, necrophilia, video games, um.. etc..) Reason being is because
who really talks about fantasizing with an old cadaver 90 years into mortification?
Who would go into the depths of Jeffery Dahmers Mind? I can't say
much for Whore though because I think everybody starts off with a song
about their 2 ex-girlfriends. Influential wise, it would be some of our
family members who were in bands before. Current bands today would have
to be Artery Eruption, Disgorge, Last Days of Humanity, Cock and Ball Torture,
Gut, Pig Destroyer, Neuro-Visceral Exhumation, and so forth.
3. RECENTLY YOU HAVE PARTICIPATED IN A COMPILATION
CD BY STEVIE HAYES LABEL CALLED “UNCONSTITUTIONALISM IN THE USA”. TELL
US A FEW THINGS ABOUT IT. WHICH OTHER BANDS DID YOU LIKE FROM THIS COMPILATION?
Well we enjoyed doing the Stevie Hayes Records
compilation and the rest of the bands on there. It is a good cd to
really get the music out there. It was pretty good for the political
purposes as well. The bands on there we enjoyed most were Seraphim
Slaughter, Decrypt, Midget Parade, Aliment, and Lincoln Love Log.
The entire cd is full of great bands. It is well worth listening
to all the time.
4. FILL US IN ON THE BAND RELEASES TILL NOW. I
SAW IN YOUR WEBSITE THAT YOU HAVE QUITE MANY RELEASES PLANNED FOR THE FUTURE.
TELL US A FEW THINGS ABOUT EACH ONE.
Well we have our '04 demo out entitled "Randomized
Sperm Dischargements". It is a mix of death, noise, and grind. The
quality is quite horrible but we managed to pull it off. "Necro-Eroticism"
was recorded about a half-year later. We recorded some songs at different
houses and even during a hurricane evacuation, lol. It was more of
a sound we were finally looking for, a mix almost between death and gore
grind. We are thinking of releasing that as well on Stevie Hayes
Records. The recently recorded "Grime Cunt" cd is bringing more gore
grind out of us. It’s more raw and brutal. We are also going
to record two more songs for the GC cd as a special edition MCD.
There are some splits in mind, but we are unsure as of right now.
That's all in the future and we aren't fortunetellers.
5. WHAT ABOUT THE LYRICAL CONTENT OF YOUR SONGS?
TELL US A FEW THINGS ABOUT THEM. WHICH ARE YOUR SOURCES OF INSPIRATION?
Well it would all depend. Some of our
songs relate to past ex-girlfriends and their intents. Other songs
will go into masochism, pure randomness, STDs, necrophilia, raging against
god, serial killers, prostitutes, drugs, hallucinogens, dismemberment,
and other forms of killing.
6. ARE YOU SATISFIED BY THE FEEDBACK YOU’VE GOT
SO FAR FROM THE PRESS AND FANS? WHAT WAS THE MOST FLATTERING AND WHAT WAS
THE WORST COMMENT YOU’VE READ? ARE YOU IN TOUCH WITH ANY LABEL?
When we first started out, it wasn’t that
great. But after the Necro cd everything went uphill. We are
actually shocked with all of the great feedback we've received for our
disturbance of music. Most flattering... was at a Miami battle of
the bands. An emo and punk band came up to us, and told us we were
the most brutal thing they've ever heard. Worst comment.."You guys
fucking suck!" We get that from at least 1-2 people each show.
But we just tell them; we'd like to see you do it.
7. I SAW THE PHOTOS ON YOUR SITE AND I SAW THAT
YOU ARE OF A YOUNG AGE PLUS YOU SEEM TO HAVE FUN AND LAUGH A LOT. DON’T
YOU THINK YOU SHOULD HAVE A MORE AGGRESSIVE IMAGE TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION
THE KIND OF MUSIC YOU PLAY?
Yes and no. You'd be surprised.
Now we may have a good time and shit like that on stage (which it should
be that way, people shouldn't be so god damn full of themselves) but the
music is what brings out the aggressiveness. Now from the pictures
you saw, yes we have a good time. But we are well known for having
hurtful mosh pits on the stage with us up there still. Or we will
come down from the stage and beat down somebody. So there is still
aggressiveness in there but it just doesn’t show it.
8. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE CEPHALIC MORTIFICATION
AND YOUR MUSIC TO SOMEONE THAT HAS NEVER HEARD OF YOU? WHAT WOULD YOU SAY
TO WIN THEIR ATTENTION?
A description of us would be like saying your
ears are going to explode with a lot of noise. And to win their attention,
we just say we suck. You'd be surprised, that works a lot.
9. WHAT’S THE BEST AND WHAT’S THE WORST PART IN
YOUR MUSIC, ACCORDING TO YOU?
The best is writing and recording it.
The worst would have to be getting the drum tracks ready for a show, and
equalizing.
10. DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS FOR LIVE SHOWS? WHAT
SHOULD THE METALHEADS EXPECT TO SEE?
We always have some plan for a show. Sometimes
we show up randomly and play a show. We usually have disturbing stage
props or we dress all fucked up. Metal heads should expect to see a group
of mentally fucked up kids tripped out on too much acid.
11. IF YOUR MUSIC WERE AN EMOTION, WHAT WOULD
IT BE? IF IT WERE A PAINTING, WHAT WOULD IT SYMBOLIZE?
If it were an emotion it would be complete
hatred and confusion.
If it were a painting it would symbolize a
visionment of hell.
12. IF TIME TRAVEL WAS POSSIBLE WHICH PERIOD WOULD
YOU LIKE TO VISIT AND WHY??
