Decomposed
Decomposed is a newcomer band in the exreme Greek metal scene and they "invade" the underground wolrd having as their target to conquer the metallers, have fun and offer as good compositions as possible!

1.CONGRATULATIONS FOR "UNKNOWN CREATION"! IT'S GREAT DEMO WORK FROM EVERY ASPECT, BUT I'D LIKE TO KNOW WHAT YOU, THE CREATORS, THINK ABOUT IT NOW...
Thank you for your kind words. We know that we worked hard for this demo but it's been a while since it was recorded and we now know that we can do much better than this and of course make improvements.
2.WHICH ARE YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS AS A BAND? YOU HAVE BEEN AROUND FOR ONLY A COUPLE OF YEARS NOW, SO INTRODUCE YOURSELVES AND THE BAND TO THE READERS...
The band was formed by Menis(guitar), George(bass-backing vocals), John (vocals-guitar) and Filippos (drums) a couple of years ago and we started to cover our favorite songs in order to learn how to play our instruments. After a few months we performed at our first concert opening for Septic Flesh along with Insomnia and Dem153. It was then that it became clear to us of the music that we were going to compose as so far we had been playing a long variety of covers from the metal scene, from System Of A Down to old Anathema and Rotting Christ. A few months later we pewrformed at our second concert at Opend Mind fest along with Obsecration, Ravencult, Inner Wish and other Greek bands. After that performance we continued to work on our songs and considered doing a demo which we accomplished last summer. After the demo we performed at two more concerts, the first with Nightfall, System Shock and Wastefall  and the other with Astral Aeon, Soulles and other bands.
3.NOW, LET'S TALK ABOUT THE MUSIC... YOUR SOUND IS A COMBINATION MAINLY OF DEATH AND BLACK METAL. HOW CAN ALL THESE ELEMENTS BE BLENDED IN AND YET CREATE A RESULT THAT SOUNDS SO HOMOGENEOUS?
To be honest, we never think about this. We just write our songs in a way that everyone in the band likes. We can't say if our songs are homogeneous. We don't make them out to be homogeneous. We just make them in order to like them.
4.I THINK THAT YOU (HAVE QUITE A PERSONAL TOUCH) AND YOUR MUSIC IS EASILY RECOGNISABLE, TAKING  INTO ACCOUNT THAT YOU ARE NEWCOMERS IN THE METAL SCENE! HOW DID YOU ACHIEVE THIS? WHY DO YOU THINK SOME BANDS CAN AND OTHERS CAN'T CREATE A PERSONAL PERCEPTION IN THEIR MUSIC?
I'm not sure if we have achieved an easily recognisable sound, but we worked a lot to assimilate our influences and not to sound like any other band as far as possible. It's not easy for a band to create a personal sound.
5.THE PRODUCTION IS VERY PROFESSIONAL. WHERE HAS IT TAKEN PLACE? WHO WAS THE PRODUCER? DID YOU HAVE  THE SOUND YOU WANTED TO ACHIEVE IN MIND FROM THE BEGINNING, OR YOU JUST DIDN'T HAVE ANY IDEA OF HOW THINGS WORK WITHIN A STUDIO? DID YOU HAVE ANY HELP IN THE ORCHESTRATION OF THE SONGS, ETC? ARE YOU SATISFIED WITH THE FINAL RESULT?
The production is far better than what we expected. It took place at Artemis Studios in Athens. It was mastered and mixed by Mark Andrian and produced by us. From the beginning we knew that we wanted a loud and clear sound along with the appropriate amounts of brutality. It was the first time that we entered a studio to record a demo and we were nervous as we didn't know how things work on a professional level. As far as the orchestration is concerned it was all done by us.
6.NOW FOR THE LYRICS...I THINK YOU SHOULD TALK ABOUT THE  THEME OF EACH SONG. WHICH EVENTS, SITUATIONS, EXPERIENCES, ETC INSPIREDYOU TO WRITE EACH SONG?
Our lyrics are very general in a way. Although when we write them we have something specific in mind, when we look back on them we understand that they could mean anything. We engage upon themes like existence, sin, fear and we try to send either positive or negative messages. we don't plan anything, the themes just come up naturally. We also like daily situations that capture our attention or annoy us. We like the lyrics that create strong emotions and not the meaningless ones which just fill the music.
7.BY THE WAY, WHICH IS, ACCORDING TO YOU, THE BEST AND WHICH THE WORST PART IN YOUR MUSIC? WHICH DO YOU THINK IS YOUR TRADEMARK AND IN WHICH FIELD DO YOU NEED FURTHER IMPROVEMENT?
I don't think that we could distinguish specific parts from our songs, each part is conceived and used for a reason. If a riff doesn't sound good to us or seems of average quality then we don't use it. Maybe now that the time has passed and we can see this demo more objectively, we could say that the guitar work and especially the solos could be improved, so we are working harder on this for the next demo.
8.WHY HAVE YOU DECIDED TO RELEASE SUCH A PROFESSIONAL DEMO AND NOT WAIT TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ANY LABEL AND RELEASE A FULL LENGTH RELEASE? WHEN SHOULD WE EXPECT A COMPLETE ALBUM?
Nowdays labels receive hundreds of demos every month so a nice piece of work with a good production and a booklet helps the label to understand that we are serious about our work and makes them appreciate it better. After all it makes us feel better when we look back at our work and see what we have done.
9.THE COVER ARTWORK AND GENERALLY THE WHOLE CD LAYOUT IS EXCEPTIONAL! AND WHAT  THE MOST AMAZING PART IS, IS THE FACT THAT THIS IS A SELF -FINANCED RELEASE!!! SO, CAN YOU TELL US A FEW THINGS ABOUT IT, LIKE WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR IT, ETC? HOW IS IT CONNECTED TO THE DEMO'S TITLE "UNKNOWN CREATION"?
The whole artwork was made by our friend rotten. We gave him the lyrics and he came up with this result. We liked it and that was it. The cover and specifically the hands have to do with the creature that is described (at unknown creation) although the whole concept is very general and thus could be imagined in any way that somebody likes.
10.DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS FOR LIVE SHOWS? WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO OFFER TO THOSE WHO WILL ATTEND YOUR SHOWS? THINGS ARE EVEN MORE DIFFICULT FOR YOU TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE FACT THAT YOU LIVE IN A SMALL TOWN FAR AWAY FROM THE "BIG METAL CENTRES" OF GREECE...
I think that there is something being planned for Crete in April but nothing is sure yet so I can't tell you any more details. People that have seen us live say that our songs sound a lot better. We just try to have fun on stage and transmit this fun onto the audience. The fact that for the two previous years we lived in Kalamata, a small town away from the big metal centres made things really difficult especially when the time for the recording of the demo came. Now that we are at university things are even worse as each member lives in a different city: Athens, Thessaloniki, Irakleio and Kalamata, but this doesn't disappoint us and we continue with our work.
11.IF YOU COULD ADD SOME ELEMENTS AND EMOTIONS TO YOUR MUSIC, WHICH WOULD THESE BE? IF YOU COULD REDUCE SOME, WHICH WOULD THEY BE?
We surely want to make harsh songs with stranger orchestration in a way. As far as the atmospheric parts are concerned they will continue to exist but in a different way.
12.IF YOU COULD INVITE FAMOUS MUSICIANS TO PARTICIPATE IN YOUR MUSIC, WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
That's a difficult question. There are so many that we would like to invite. We can't choose any specific one.
13.IF TIME TRAVEL WERE POSSIBLE, WHICH PERIOD WOULD YOU LIKE TO VISIT AND WHY?
Time travel? Maybe in the seventies or eighties musically speaking or in the future due to curiosity.
14.ARE YOU IN TOUCH WITH ANY LABEL AT THE MOMENT? HAVE YOU SENT YOUR MATERIAL TO RECORD LABELS? HAVE YOU RECEIVED ANY FEEDBACK YET? IF YES, ARE YOU SATISFIED WITH THE COMMENTS?
We have sent our demo to some labels but we have received no response so far. On the other hand the feedback that we receive from the reviews and from the people who listen to our music is very good and we are very pleased with the comments we've received so far.
15.WHICH WORDS DO YOU THINK CAN DESCRIBE YOUR MUSIC ? WHAT PHRASE CAN IDEALLY SUM UP THE BAND'S (ESSENCE) /EXISTENCE?
Harsh, deep, multidimensional, brutal or simply death metal. Phrases that could sum up our essence? Having fun creating the music we would like to hear.
16.THANK YOU! THESE LINES ARE YOURS...
Thank's for this interview. Hope to see you in the future at one of our concerts!
